House Democratic Minority Leader Ward Armstrong has lost the seat he's held for nearly 20 years.
In a race symbolically important to the Republicans, Del. Charles Poindexter won 53 percent of the vote over Armstrong, whom the GOP targeted both in redistricting and in heavy financial support for Poindexter.
[snip]
Apparently Adam Ebbins won the Democratic senate seat. He was the Green Party delegate from Arlington, VA and played on the environment and for illegal immigrants to keep his seat.
He’s almost a watermelon man, “Green on the outside, red on the inside”. He is dangerous.
I can't help but wonder - who are these nut cases who vote for these people? What the heck goes through their heads?
Which seat was that?
Found it, Senate district 30. the GOP put no money into the race at all. I think it was a lost cause.
Go invaders!
Whom the GOP targeted?
In a nutshell.
The misguided belief by so many of our citizens that bureaucrats solve problems will lead to all our ruin.
WRC Channel 4 initially reported that DEMs kept control of the VA Senate at the beginning of the 11 pm news. At the end of the news, they reported that GOP may have won the last seat. This would put GOP over the top - but there will be an obvious recount ...
Even WMAL’s news at 11p reported that the count in the Houkk/Reeves race was “CLOSE” with only 85 votes separating the cadidates and the Republic ahead despite the D being ahead all night. AS IF there were more counting to do.
At 95 votes separating them that was with 100% precincts reporting. Yeah, there’ll be a recount, but for tonight the counting is over but the newscaster couldn’t bring herself to say that. I tracked the race all night and Reeves was ahead except a brief period. Damned lying miserable press.
This morning the State Board of Elections report Reeves with 22,536 (50.01%) and Houck with 22,450 (49.82%) and 70 write-ins. Reeves won all areas (often not by much) except the City of Fredericksburg where he only got 37.23%. Is the City really that liberal or was it the college (MW)?
Arlington, VA is full of lib dims, gays, govt workers and is a “sanctuary city” so lots of illegals who vote early and often.
Fredericksburg has a VA Rail Station so lots of rich (thank you, tax payers) govt workers from DC and limousine lib dims...
While the sentiment of this pic is laudable this, sir, is a pic of a YANKEE attack - not really appropriate for VA!
Cheers....
Redistricting's been done already hasn't it?
Yeah, looks like you are right. I had thought the Dem senate was still holding it up, but apparently not.
Either way, taking the state senate back was important enough as it is.
The Cainsmear;
Herman,
Take “THE DONALD”s advice. SUE!
You said you would take a lie detector test;
Make sure you have SEVERAL DONE AT THE TIME, the extra ones will be for the women; while you are at it; have your campaign manager there as well as the liars. That way we’ll get facts, instead of inuendos.
“Anyone who thinks 2012 is going to be a cakewalk is deluding themselves.”
Exactly. It’s unbelievable how well Obama’s numbers are holding up against all the GOP candidates, in spite of his horrible economy and march towards socialism.
If there’s even the smallest rebound in the economy, Obama will become the “comeback kid”.
I was surprised by the City of Fredericksburg returns, too. If anything, I’d have thought the Charlottesville area would have been more favorable to Houck. It might just be that Fredericksburg has grown enormously over the past few years since the VRE made commuting from there to DC more feasible. I.e., you have more govt workers now in F’burg. Only thing I can come up with.
This is an auto-recount unless Houck were to decline, like George Allen did in ‘06. We’ll see how that goes, but if F’burg is the strongest area of support, not sure how they come up with boxes of ballots in the back of someone’s car.
We should all be more like Chamberlain at Gettysburg.
