Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich defended former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain on Monday, saying Americans might be more interested in finding a solutions-oriented leader than obsessing over another political scandal.
What does it mean to the elite news media that nobody in the country ever comes up to us and raises questions you all raise? Gingrich told NBCs Ann Curry when asked what the Cain sexual harassment scandal could mean for the Republican ticket in 2012. I went through two months in June and July where folks in New York and Washington said my campaign was dead, I was gone, that it was hopeless. Nobody in the country said that. Newt Gingrich offers an astute observation. The kind of things the liberal media cares about is not relevant to the country and people don’t want to hear what a candidate did a lifetime ago. They’re interested in hearing what the candidate will do about the very serious problems we’re facing. The media is out of touch with the country. Its self-absorbed to the point of complete narcissism.
Good for Newt. It’s the right thing to do, the honorable thing to do, and good political strategy also.
How is it that Newt sticks up more for Cain than Rinse Pry-bus, or Reeses Preebus, or Prince Ryebus, or whatever his name is?
Yeah..well when all of the solutions require Federal Cease and Desist...the DC gods would prefer every body be looking anywhere else...
My suggestion would be to get spokespeople and/or members of the Republican party to get the following message out to the media. “We take sexual harassment very seriously, however where was the media on Obama’s admission of cocaine use or the multiple sexual ASSAULTS made by a multitude of women against Bill Clinton, including rape by Juanita Broderick. Hammer this message home at every press conference. I guarantee you this witch hunt would come to an end.
Without reading the thread yet (sorry!)—good for Newt! I’ve always liked him and I appreciate him saying this.
Gingrich is being a stand up guy, if Cain doesn’t survive this I can vote for Newt.
Amen and well said!
because Newt is interested in the positives — doing the best for America and less on “me, me, me” than the other guys (and lady)
They do make a great team.
