About 50 minutes before it was about to begin, PSU administrators canceled Joe Paterno's weekly news conference Tuesday.
Penn State administrators have canceled Joe Paterno's weekly news conference in which he was expected to field questions about a sex abuse scandal involving a former assistant coach.
Paterno's son Scott tells The Associated Press on Tuesday that the decision was made by President Graham Spanier's office.
Scott Paterno says his father was disappointed and was prepared to take questions about the scandal as well as the upcoming game against Nebraska.
Rocked by an alleged child sex abuse scandal, Penn State issued a statement late Monday saying that Paterno will only answer questions about football Tuesday during his regularly scheduled press conference.

Its all about winning...even if you let a viscious child molester continue.
Paterno should have called the police.
As a matter of fact when I read the write up that an assistant (?) coach saw the 10 year old getting sodomized in the shower he waited till the next morning to call Paterno!
WTF! I would have grabbed the SOB that was hurting the child, beat the crap out of him and called the police on my cell phone right there!
Yeah...Paterno was “legally’ right they say...What about the morality of the situation??
He had a duty to all children ...call the police, not cover it up and pass it along.
I don’t buy any of this:

No he wasn’t. Only Curley and Schultz were indicted for perjury.
My only knowledge of Graham Spanier’s character was when I read about him coming down like a ton of bricks on a faculty member who tried to censor a student’s controversial (anti-Palestinian terrorism) art display. He came across as a straight arrow then because he stepped in and did the right thing.
Very true!
Fire them all and let the lawsuits begin.
And some big law suits as some of the rapes took place on campus.
I wonder how long it will take the Board of Trustees to come to agreement on this?

The presentation was canceled. Spanier stepped in and said that it could be presented sometime the next year. It was never presented.
2002? Uh.... this is 2011. The supposed “reaction” was to keep the pedo from bringing little boys into the shower any more. Meanwhile, he still had full access to the facilities until a few weeks ago.
Make no mistake.. the most powerful guy at Penn State is Joe Paterno, regardless of the formal org structure. He knew there was a pedo in the ranks, and instead of doing the right thing and demanding a full investigation, or confronting the pedo himself, he washed his hands of the whole thing.
What a moral coward. Your attitude makes me sick.
Why didn't the father who was allegedly informed by the graduate assistant who allegedly witnessed the sexual encounter in the shower room?
Of all the allegations, Paterno is the only one who took action by informing his superiors.......and now you want him to be the fall guy?
Joe Pa, as the most powerful person at Penn State, and the supposed moral leader of the University, should have made damn sure that the pedo had ZERO access to the facility from that point forward, and should have made sure that a full investigation was carried out.
He did neither. He turned a blind eye while little boys were diddled by this creep. He failed. Did Joe Pa commit a crime? No. Did he fail as a leader? Absolutely. Time for him to go.
Why didn’t Joe talk 9 years ago instead of “protecting Sandusky and the football program”? How did football become more important to Penn State than its stated mission of “success with honor”? The cover-up will inevitably bring down much more than straight up honesty.
Till two days ago. He was seen working out in the gym last week.
You do know in 1998 they did call the police and, the police did nothing right? They interviewed him after being caught in a shower with a boy and he “promised to never do it again”. The police closed the case.
This is the greatest example of union and government corruption ever and they will blame joepa and, I am not a Penn fan.
McQueary informed his superior
Paterno informed his superior.
Curley informed his superior.
Schultz informed his superior.
Spanier told Schultz to take care of it.
Schultz told McQueary that the problem was taken care of.
Problem gone away. Happy Valley is Happy Valley again.
The police took the case to the county DA (Wouldn't that be a NON-UNION job) and the DA refused to prosecute.
