No, this area is an upper-middle class, mostly white suburb. I google mapped the location to see if there were any nearby gas stations. I did not see any, but I did not study the map very long.

Thanks! So, no cell phone? Why didn't she ask one of the residents, or a passerby? I can't follow her logic.

Possible. I have one now but I held out for a long time because I hate having a electronic leash. Half the time I don't carry it.

Depending on the time of the day there might not have been anybody around,

I don't understand why she didn't just pop the hood and wait. People who will not stop will call 911 if they see that you are in trouble.
