Ron Paul's Statement of Faith (says he's "accepted Jesus Christ")
Pundit House ^ | July 13, 2011 | Ron Paul

Posted on 11/06/2011 6:40:00 PM PST by Kurt Evans

My faith is a deeply private issue to me, and I don't speak on it in great detail during my speeches because I want to avoid any appearance of exploiting it for political gain. Let me be very clear here: I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and I endeavor every day to follow Him in all I do and in every position I advocate...

America became the greatest nation in human history because a dedicated band of Patriots believed their God-given rights were worth fighting for, even if it meant challenging the world's most powerful nation in what many deemed a "hopeless" cause...

Since I'm asking for your vote and your trust to lead this nation, let me tell you a little bit about my background and beliefs.

My parents raised my four brothers and me on a dairy near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they set clear examples for each of us about faith, honest living, and individual responsibility. Their Christian values helped inspire two of my brothers to eventually enter the ministry, and provided me with the foundation I needed to practice medicine and one day become a U.S. Representative.

In addition to my time in Congress, I am proud to have delivered over 4,000 babies as a country doctor in Texas. As I trained to practice medicine, I became convinced without a doubt that life begins at the moment of conception. I never performed an abortion, and I never once found an abortion necessary to save the life of the mother. In fact, I successfully helped women struggling with their pregnancies to seek other options, including adoption...

We must stand for life—not allow millions of innocent children to continue to be slaughtered with the government's approval.

We must follow the Biblical mandate of using honest weights and measures—not printing money out of thin air in almost complete secrecy and then handing it over to oppressive dictators.

We must only send our men and women to fight for our country when the mission is clear, every tool needed to win is provided, and we respect the Constitution by declaring war...

As President, I give you my word that I will only exercise my authority within the confines of the Constitution, and I will work every day to rein in a runaway federal government by binding it with the chains of that document.

Given your obscene response to Absolutely NoBama @ #207, we can dispense with further dialogue. Your candidate favors "gay" everything. Conservatives do not. You are one more proof that libertoonianism and conservatism are clean different things and that conservatism is the respectable and civilized option of the two. You would not know conservatism if it jumped up and bit you.

Any reply by you is entirely unnecessary and irrelevant.

The Naval Academy must be soooo proud of having obscenity obsessed paleopacifists as alumni. Fortunately for America neither you nor Jimmuh Cahtuh are typical.

Like everyone else - I never saw Obama at Columbia - even though I graduated in 2001. But you do bring up a good point:One made by Hemmingway’s ghost previously Let’s all rally around beating Obama.

And if I can’t have Paul _ I’ll take anyone :)

Except Romney!

Oh, boo hoo hoo. So sorry to have offended your tender sensibilities. You are one THIN-skinned Grand Inquisitor; a keyboard tough guy, I guess.

Any reply by you is entirely unnecessary and irrelevant.

You'll get one nonetheless. I always enjoy when those who claim to wear the mantle of conservatism back down because they dare not deign to explain it to someone who might not agree with them . . . and someone capable of running up one side of them and down the other in a debate over ideology.

The Naval Academy must be soooo proud of having obscenity obsessed paleopacifists as alumni. Fortunately for America neither you nor Jimmuh Cahtuh are typical.

Obscenity-laced! On that, you and Carter probably agree . . . lillies of the valley who can't take colorful phrases. Below-decks on a ship is one of the most vile places on earth. The Naval Academy doesn't produce damsels who wilt around salty language, thank God. It's awesome how you bloodthirsty keyboard warriors hell-bent on blowing our enemies to bits crinkle over words. You joke about burning people at the stake, you fraud, and you complain about salty language? Oh boy. At least have the honor and decency to have the courage of your convictions.

Egad. As a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who now has to buy health insurance or face a fine, man, I don't like the Mittster at all.

I can only speak for myself: nope. As I said further on up the thread, in my opinion, Rep. Paul has some good ideas and some bad ones. I believe his good outweighs his bad, and I think his good ideas ought to play a part in the public discourse. But he's well past his prime as a potential President.

My question was do you support him for president. I used to agree with a lot of the things david duke said too. But I always knew exactly who and WHAT he was. He was smart too. He also thinks iran should have nukes. He also went on iranian TV and dissed his own country...as well as Israel.
Still, he said some mighty smart things. Does that make him presidential material?

Its the principles not the person. Its not about this one man. Ron Paul. Its his ideas. Men will pass away. Ideas and principles are eternal.

Being Jewish, I feel much the same way. Which is why I used him as an example of why I could never, ever, ever in a million years vote for someone like ron paul.
See, smart men, (and women,) can make an awful lot of sense and often use well thought out reasoning 90% of the time. It doesn’t make them any less evil. I could have used bill clinton. he is an evil genius and people just love him to death...but I would never vote for him either.
ron paul could have ten ideas and eight of them could be great, but the other two would get me, and a lot of other people, killed. Can’t go there.

Well, it is remarkable what a high and exaggerated opinion you apparently have of yourself despite such ample evidence to the contrary.

I had not been aware that suggesting that Absolutely NoBama had been the victim of incestuous homosexual pedophilia by his own grandfather in your #207 was proof of what a tough guy you hallucinate yourself to be but it would probably be better for you not to implicate the entire US Navy in your warped fantasies.

Of course, we also have the all too familiar situation of a paleo-pacifist weenie with the trepidation to hide behind his keyboard and play tough guy. We don't have formal debates here before audiences which may give mass feedback. Somewhere in Massachusetts there must be an actual military/foreign policy conservative of capability for you to debate before a decent sized audience of actual conservatives. Perhaps the Marine who ran against Barney Frank last election? Or Avi Nelson? Or Don Feder? If Don would stoop to bother with you, see to it that a videotape is made of him debating you and leaving your mangled entrails in the gutter. Make the tape available to FReepers generally. OR you could debate any stevedore on the South Boston docks and be crushed.

That was obscenity obsessed not obscenity-laced.

I will take your word for it that someone wasted an appointment to Annapolis on you and that you managed to graduate. That just confirms, at least as to your matriculation there, another example to prove what most conservatives believe about the waste of taxpayers' money that is gummint's religion. Many of us had not realized that the rot had reached the service academies.

If you graduated, you would have become an officer but certainly, in your case, not a gentleman.

I have to agree that the vileness of Post #207 combined with your obvious high opinion of yourself just doesn't lend you a lot of credibility.

Plus....Ron Paul???

Really?

C'mon...

What a way to begin a reply. “Being Jewish...”. That got me to thinking.
Jesus said “salvation is of the Jews”. He was pretty smart. I am a roman catholic by baptism, but i am jewish on my mothers side going back to my great grandmother - long story. The point being: we are here to defend this “free republic” - the united states of america. And has there ever been a country better for the jewish people than the USA? And dont say israel (past or present) - because Titus razed the 2nd temple to the ground - since then it hasnt been the same - despite the struggle. But if you are interested in building the 3rd temple - stay right here - for now - because those that build with their hands - they labor in vain.

Ferstay?

There is quite a bit more to the Torquemada story than you apparently imagine. The standards of justice of the time were not our own. We rightly regard such standards as disgraceful by comparison with the religious freedom we take for granted in the USA today.

When Ferdinand and Isabella united first Aragon and Castille by their marriage and then the rest of Spain by conquest and political effort, their aim was to create a Catholic Spain and to expel others. This was a reasonably normal standard in their time. They famously expelled most Muslims. There were several kinds of people of Jewish ancestry resident in Spain at the time. Some had been baptized Catholic and had become Catholic believers and practitioners. They were not burned at the stake unless by grave error. There were Jews who remained Jewish by Faith and they were unjustly deported (not unlike the deportation of both Jews and Catholics from Sweden in the late 19th Century complete with confiscation of their property) and were, as a practical matter, forced to sell their property far below value. There were other Jews who were baptized but continued to practice Judaism in their homes. They were, I believe, known as Moranos. They were likely to be the victims of burnings at the stake because the medieval Church took very seriously the matter of baptism and its attendant obligations. Usurers of whatever ancestry or Faith were quite often burned at the stake after judgments of the Inquisition in many nations. There were others who were subjected to the auto da fe for other reasons.

My use of Torquemada is in reference not to Jews of any era but to other folks who call themselves Catholic but are in schism including the infamous Bishop Williamson who denies altogether the Nazi holocaust that killed 6 million Jews and 5 million others. I think I have as pro-Jewish a track record here as anyone not Jewish and, I note, that I would take out Ahmadinejad before he gets a chance to nuke Israel as I take it you would not. Whether you like my tagline or not is of no concern to me.

While we are on the subject, there was/is a family of Jews from Central Europe (Hungary and Germany) in the era of the Holocaust. They were/are quote Orthodox Jews. The family name was/is Reichmann. The patriarch of the family was from Hungary, an egg farmer and had organized a cartel of all Central European egg farmers, Jewish and non-Jewish alike to maximize all of their incomes. His German wife was of the Gestetner family. Eventually, after WW II, those Reichmanns who survived, escaped through Franco Spain which (unfortunately at the price of bribery that should not have had to be paid) for the moral opportunity of Spaniards to save their lives. They went on to Spanish Morocco with the blessings of Franco's government and organized relief efforts for other escaping Jews and to do whatever could be done for those in the camps. Eventually they founded and ran an international construction company of major note, known as Olympia and Yorke which was known for bringing in major projects quicker than promised, at higher quality than promised and at less expense that promised. There is a book about the Reichmanns which was written by a Toronto business reporter (they had settled in Montreal sfter the war).

The book details that Franco threatened that he would provide air bases to the US Army Air Corps in Spain to facilitate attacks on Axis countries unless Hitler allowed, inter alia, Spanish agents to comb the camps to effect the release of Sephardic Jews who could claim Spanish ancestry because Spain had a law of return and Franco was applying it to those descended from the Jews expelled in the 15th century. Franco gets little credit for this but it is true nonetheless.

Pope Pius XII, eloquently eulogized by Golda Meir before the UN at the time of his death, also gets little credit but is continuously libeled by those who follow the theories of Rolf Hochhuth (a communist and former member of Hitler Youth who wrote The Deputy). Pius XII did not save Jews from the Holocaust for human respect or for credit in popular imagination but because it was the right thing to do.

The Inquisition caused the Maid of Orleans (now St. Joan of Arc) to be burned at the stake and canonization of her as a saint is about as much of an apology as you will ever see the Church make.

Finally, infamously at Yalta, Stalin, pressing FDR for a soviet takeover of Poland and being resisted by FDR for political reasons having to do with the possibility of losing Catholic voters in the 1944 election, made the wisecrack to FDR: How many divisions has the pope? The answer was given during the pontificate of John Paul II (whose maiden name was Karol Wojtlywa and who, as you know was also Polish). The soviets were no friends of Jews either but John Paul II was (from childhood to his death).

"I've been a professional writer all my professional life."

And apparently a master of the sentence fragment, mixed metaphor and redundancy.

But then the man who he bumptiously claims to emulate was possessed of some notions almost as bizarre as those of his political hero.

What the heck! We always can use a class clown.

Yes, my first thought when reading that was how my first creative writing teacher in high school would have red-marked the heck out of that. I don't even like to think what the oft-published profs I had in college would have done.

And I haven't been "a professional writer all my professional life." ;-)
