Attempting to turn reports of sexual harassment allegations back on the media, the campaign for Republican presidential contender Herman Cain is targeting journalists by passing out a code of ethics offering guidelines on how to report stories.
On Sunday, Cain campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon emailed passages from the Society of Professional Journalist Code of Ethics that highlighted limiting the use of anonymous sources and evaluating their truthfulness and motives before allowing their use.
The code also offered a few reminders like removing arrogance from reporting, showing good taste, being accountable, not pandering to lurid curiosity, treating subjects of stories as reporters would like to be treated and exposing unethical behavior by fellow reporters.

They will destroy a person and never think twice..what ethics? The primary themes common to most codes of journalistic standards and ethics are the following.
[edit] Accuracy and standards for factual reporting
Reporters are expected to be as accurate as possible given the time allotted to story preparation and the space available, and to seek reliable sources.
Events with a single eyewitness are reported with attribution. Events with two or more independent eyewitnesses may be reported as fact. Controversial facts are reported with attribution.
Independent fact-checking by another employee of the publisher is desirable
Corrections are published when errors are discovered
Defendants at trial are treated only as having “allegedly” committed crimes, until conviction, when their crimes are generally reported as fact (unless, that is, there is serious controversy about wrongful conviction).
Opinion surveys and statistical information deserve special treatment to communicate in precise terms any conclusions, to contextualize the results, and to specify accuracy, including estimated error and methodological criticism or flaws.
[edit] Slander and libel considerations
Reporting the truth is almost never libel [3], which makes accuracy very important.
Private persons have privacy rights that must be balanced against the public interest in reporting information about them. Public figures have fewer privacy rights in U.S. law, where reporters are immune from a civil case if they have reported without malice. In Canada, there is no such immunity; reports on public figures must be backed by facts.
Publishers vigorously defend libel lawsuits filed against their reporters, usually covered by libel insurance.

Imagine the reaction of these yellow journalist being taken to the woodshed.by Cain
I saw a couple of CNN reporters sneering about this last night. They didn’t seem to realize they were just making themselves even worse by their snide remarks about ethics.
The media, even Fox News, have been completely shameless.
This morning they spend hours gassing about the Cain Sexual Harassment scandal despite the fact their scandal has been exposed as a complete political smear job.
Then when they started talking about Fast and Furious they were very very careful to avoid saying anything like scandal instead it was all mistake operation gone wrong etc.
Sorry Media, you are fooling no one with this transparent bias.
We need to ALL send the journalistic code to these news stations!
SERIOUSLY!
Smart move.
Fox opinion line:
PLEASE ABIDE BY YOUR SPJ CODE OF ETHICS

I thought journalistic code of ethics was an oxymoron.
They'll have good reason to quivver if Cain really gets mad at that worthless bunch of hacks.
Next time you post an article, just copy and paste the title. You’re version above makes no sense.
No one ever said the media had to be fair or unbiased.
Ethics only applies to conservative journalists to be used by libs as a monitoring tool. Doesn’t apply to libs.
10E^6 in favor of Cain.
Crackers for Cain!
