Thieves have been cleaning up stealing laundry detergent from stores in Prince Georges County, Md., but special investigators are making progress.
A special crime squad has made five arrests and is looking for 15 other suspects.
Boosters will load shopping carts with laundry detergent and then race out of the store to their cars to make a getaway. One Safeway store was losing about $15,000 per month in Tide alone.
Surveillance video showed a man stealing Tide from a Wegmans, police said. Forty minutes later, with police watching, that mans accomplice sold the Tide at a nail salon. Police seized 18 jugs seized, 27 packages of Gillette Fusion razors, 11 bottles of body wash and two Apple computers
A special crime squad also raided the Universal Supermarket in Silver Spring this week, seizing 129 jugs of Tide and 72 cans of baby formula.
So he paid five bucks for this, and hes selling it for almost $25, Prince Georges County police Lt. Brad Pyle said. Thats almost a 500 percent profit. Yeah, liquid gold.
I guess I don’t really understand.
Can’t buy Tide with your EBT?
Do nail salons use detergent as part of the manicure process?
(Just trying to “get” this.)
Maybe it’s the old formula with phosphates?
A typical 8 pack of Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razor blades goes for around $24 now....
My bet is the thieves are Obama class warriors who see no problem taking from those who have to “spread the wealth around”.
When Tide is outlawed, only outlaws will have Tide.
Lemme see....
You're in the business of selling stuff, which means you have some sort of loss prevention program in place, and you're losing as much as some small businesses are currently grossing, and you haven't made the necessary changes to deal with it?
These guys are filling shopping carts before darting out of the store? And you're just standing there?!
Someone is in the wrong business.
Along with urinating and defecting in the brushes, this is what happens in a 3rd world country.
I never thought I'd see the day. . .
Crisis! Save the homeland! We must pass laws! We are all too free! Get the Tide behind the counter and only sell it with ID and an iris scan. OMG, the children!!!
I'm guessing that (in certain neighborhoods) nail salons are places where women can buy items that "fell of the truck" at a discount.
Will Tide straighten my nails? Remove the rust? Sharpen the point?
...women can buy items that “fell of the truck” at a discount.”
Yes, but that price doesn’t seem like a discount.
Now, the baby formula I can see, that stuff is very expensive, but Tide?
And, as to the baby formula, that is definitely something that would be covered under any welfare food program.
But I do know powdered baby formula can be used to “cut” drugs. But again, in that case it makes a lot more sense just to buy it. Who wants their drug operation stalled or worse due to a shoplifting charge for baby formula?
These Obama years have been great, haven’t they? THEY NEED TO END.
>>>Prince George’s County<<<
Extra whiteners, perhaps?
