Newt Gingrich gave a short speech tonight at the Ronald Reagan Dinner. One thing that’s interesting about his speech is that he took time to praise all the candidates in attendance.

Given that both of them failed to show up at the Iowa Ronald Reagan Dinner, I think it's fair to ask Mitt Romney & Herman Cain:

Why do you hate Ronald Reagan?

Or we can ask Newt why he loves Nancy Pelosi.

"I have competitors but not opponents" (among the other candidates).

Breath of fresh air. Gingrich is the only grown up.

Also, I love Gingrich's idea of revoking all Obama's administrative orders on the first day!

I also love his idea of challenging Obama to a series of Lincoln-Douglas debates - with no moderator (although Obama will be allowed to use a teleprompter!).

Gingrich said he’s a history professor but unlike Obama, he actually studied AMERICAN history. LOL!

Also, he promises to show up wherever Obama appears during the campaign, no less 4 hours later, and offer a rebuttal to whatever Obama has said. Bambi would really lose it with that one...

Gingrich said:

"I am here with very fine competitors, but no opponents. We only have one opponent. That's Barack Obama."

Thank you, Mr. Grown Up!

When Obama’s campaign appearances are televised live, it would also be cool to see Newt go on a TV or the Internet, and rebut it in real-time, Mystery Science Theater 3000-style.

Gingrich is going to surprise a lot of people.

Everyone should watch this video. Sadly, very few will.

“I study history. Unlike President Obama, I study AMERICAN history.”

LOL

The problem with Newt is you never know which version you’re getting - Conservative Newt, Liberal Newt or Socialist Newt.

That in itself demonstrates he is not the great intellect some would have you believe.

He is definitely a breath of fresh air and I see growing interest in him in my neck of the woods.

"eat your own", all too often here on FR we are seeing that. I do not like it. Differences in opinions are one thing, but the "food fights" and name calling that is happening here is only to divide our efforts.

By the way, I am not a Newt man, he is on the wrong team. He is very smart and articulate, but Newt is in it for himself, although he may actually think otherwise.

To assume that either Romney or Herman Cain hates Ronald Reagan is FAR more than a stretch.

Old and hackneyed response. He admitted some time ago that he had made mistakes. That shows humility. There was a time when the Republican establishment treated him the same way. As a conservative I will not treat people that way and I WILL allow that they can change. It’s the least that I can do....because God has done so with me. ;-)

I am on the Cain Train but I will support Newt in a heartbeat just to watch him give Obama a heart attack, a thrashing. Romney would try in a debate but he would come off stiff and wooden, a the Republican’s Al Gore.

That was a joke; whether good or not is debatable, but most seem to have got it.

Ahhhh....sorry. My only excuse is that I am just beginning to sip my first cup of coffee. Without coffee...hyperbole and/or sarcasm can pass me by sooooooo easily.

I think there’s a sarcasm symbol on the net, something like \sarc or /sarc, that I might be wise to use.
