The White House Friday rejected a subpoena issued by the House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce Committee to produce internal communications and other documents related to now-bankrupt solar panel maker Solyndra's $535 million loan guarantee.
In a letter to the Republican leaders of the committee, White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler called the subpoena a partisan "vast fishing expedition" without legal justification.
"The committee's extremely broad request for documents -- now a subpoena -- is a significant intrusion on Executive Branch interests, particularly given that you have not made any effort to tailor the request to the legitimate interests of the committee," Ruemmler wrote.
"Moreover, responding to such an expansive request would require the devotion of substantial resources to gather and review many documents that are of no legitimate oversight interest," she continued.
Aides to the committee's Republicans could not immediately be reached for comment, and it is unclear what their next move would be.

......USSC
.... “To read the Article II powers of the President as providing an absolute privilege as against a subpoena essential to enforcement of criminal statutes on no more than a generalized claim of the public interest in confidentiality of nonmilitary and nondiplomatic discussions would upset the constitutional balance of ‘a workable government’ and gravely impair the role of the courts under Article III.” Because Nixon had asserted only a generalized need for confidentiality, the Court held that the larger public interest in obtaining the truth in the context of a criminal prosecution took precedence.........
No...it was my error.
My apologies for being overly sensitive and seeing something that wasn’t there.
Cheers to you! :-D
Gambling in the private sector with tax-payer monies is not “fishing”. They are guilty of kickbacks and they know it. It’s the Chicago way.
the executive branch believes they are immune by virtue of the power they possess
Either definition creates one hell of a warchest for Obama. That bastard is laundering funds through failed companies back to his campaign.
Only his boy toy Larry Sinclair knows for sure.
Somehow, I don’t think he is. I don’t think there’s much “substance” to him in general!
I agree. I dont want this administration defeated. I want them humiliated and destroyed.
“Count me in!
I want to crush them! I want them driven before me! I want to hear the lamentations of Moochelle!”
For some reason The Nuge singing Stranglehold comes to mind:
“here i come again now baby
like a dog in heat
tell it’s me by the clamour now baby
i like to tear up the street
now I’ve been smoking for so long
you know i’m here to stay
got you in a stranglehold baby
you best get out of the way
road i cruise is a bitch now baby
you know you can’t do me ‘round
if a house gets in my way baby
you know I’ll burn it down
you ran that night that you left me
you put me in my place
got you in a stranglehold now baby
then i crushed your face.”
I wish I was offered that. It’s been ages since I had some homestyle southern cooking.
how does one reject a subpeona?
Executive privilege.
yitbos
I didn’t know that one could “reject” a subpoena either!!!!!
Wow, just wow.
Time to get out the pitchforks.
Impeach. TODAY! You HAVE THE VOTES! DO IT!
Problem is (and we all know this here) the Media is going to cover for these criminals...
They, however, cannot avoid covering the passage of articles of IMPEACHMENT!
I am drooling now!
I LOVE Collards when they are cooked masterfully by a real Southern cook! Or a Northern cook...I’m not geo-racist LOL!!
Let’s go with your postulation.
If your hypothetical army of mex. Gangs, al queda rejects and ows hippies went up against americans in the mid west and south, how long would that conflict last?
As an answer, let me share a fact I once learned about armed americans. Last year, on the first day of deer season in WI, the total number of armed hunters was the 4th largest armed force in the world, goog luck BHO!
