Mostly it will only get the reactionaries and the nativists all stirred up and send them into a frenzy. Which some relish. LOL
Perry is all in for changing the narrative of this debate.
My dad died for this country and I served it. If I am willing to have an honest conversation about how to fix this problem, then even the most racist nativists on FR should too.
Indeed and I am a chest-thumping nativist. Perry is as trustworthy as a gypsy.
I see; nativists are those who realize that la raza ricardo has redefined amnesty in his own mind.
Sadly, that’s true.
But these spittle-flecked hysterics have yet to offer their own solution (well, other than the electrified fence...).
Another important point is that Texas is a place that also has a shortage of educated workers with technical degrees because US colleges simply don’t produce enough of them - there are too many OWS types out there majoring in Womyn’s Studeez. There probably are a number of illegals - by no means all Hispanics - who actually have such degrees and should be legalized with a temporary work visa that would enable them to simply work here without necessarily deciding they wanted to be on a citizenship track.
I think the point in general is that the entire immigration system needs a good, careful overhaul so that it gets the US the kind of immigrants it needs and provides a decent (no, there’s nothing wrong with that word) realistic response to the situation. Of course, if our economy keeps on the way it’s going, we probably won’t need any workers for anything...
