"I think there is room for revenues, but I think there clearly is a limit to the amount of revenues that are available," Boehner told reporters.
"What I was attempting to do," he said, grinning, "was to suggest that Mr. Norquist, like millions of Americans, believes that raising taxes is not good for our economy."
Boehner insisted that Republicans would only compromise on tax revenue if Democrats were willing to take significant and painful steps to shore up Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. "Without real reform on the entitlement side, I don't know how you put any revenue on the table."
"I didn't agree to set this thing up with any idea that it wouldn't succeed," he said. "And I've been clear with everyone through this process that we have to meet the goal. I'd love to exceed the goal. But we have to meet the goal and I'm going to put every effort in to make sure that we do."
So what's holding up the talks? "It's the same conversation that's been going on all year," Boehner said. "They want more revenue than what we're willing to give, and they're not willing to do as much entitlement reform as we'd like to do." Now it is known why Boehner refused to caucus with the new TEA party members. Boehner is a RINO (aka democRAT lite).
Every single one of the Constitutional Amendments have served only to crucify the American Republic upside down and turn it into a doomed to fail democracy.
The proof is right in front of your eyes.
Democracy is Doomed to Failure
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations has been 200 years.” This quote is attributed to Alexander Fraser Tytler. In 1814, John Adams said “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
The slavery Amendment was yet another nail in the coffin of the Republic, Catholic nations had already abolished slavery and even the WASPS in the USA would have stopped the practice eventualy, Amendment not required.
Har!
Great quote. What does it possibly have to do with abolishing slavery? And an amendment to abolish slavery was “another nail in the coffin of the republic”?????
Nice. Got a couple Darkies already picked out to work your fields once your dreams of utopia finally come true?
Pure fail. There are very good reasons why those amendments were put into place.
Yeah, we really tried - but you little people are just going to have to pay more in taxes.
Sorry and have a nice day. :)
