Cain camp considering legal action against Politico
Washington Post ^ | Thursday November 4, 2011

A Herman Cain aide said Thursday that the Cain campaign is considering its legal options over the original Politico story, which revealed that the former head of the National Restaurant Association was accused of sexually harassing at least two women during his tenure in the 1990s.

“This is likely not over with Politico from a legal perspective,” a campaign official told the Post, stopping short of explaining what exactly he meant by taking legal action against the publication.

The Cain campaign has had an attorney advising it since Saturday on crisis management, which hasn’t gone particularly well for Cain since the story broke Sunday night.

On Thursday night, Politico reported more details of the allegations against Cain, saying that the former NRA head made a “sexual overture to [one of the women] at one of the group’s events.”

Politico cited “multiple sources independently familiar with the matter” and said the woman in question was “livid” and reported the incident that night to an NRA board member. She left the trade group soon afterwards, the publication reported,

Well, I guess that sums it up by the press' logic. Politico must be guilty because Cain is "considering" filing a lawsuit.

Well compost, the polls say otherwise. You clowns can go pound salt along with your buddies over at the politico.

YEA!!!!!

'considering options' is a very weak statement. He should say nothing until AFTER he files and then say 'no comment'.

Playing defense doesn’t seem to work, so attack. If these liberal clowns know they’ll be put through the wringer when they pull this stuff, they might think twice.

10-1 Cain is once again blustering. Was he joking? Inquiring minds want to know.

Cains fundraising windfall also contradicts these salt-pounder’s wet dreams. The harder the opposition tries, the better it gets for Cain.

Two words - Rahm Emanuel.

Oh, they were clever, too clever by half, and some red herrings were planted so the story LOOKED as if it may have come from either the Perry or Romney camps, but logic does not support this analysis.

Psy-war and dirty tricks abound, and with masking and cloaking of where signals originate, such a plant is not only possible, the scheme is highly feasible.

Remember, this one is for ALL the marbles, not just the ones in play.

Well, he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. So far he’s supposed to hold a press conference (about an issue he knows nothing about because the target is constantly moving from gestures to hotel rooms while all the “sources” only have 2nd hand information They’ve had to walk back a time or two themselves. Or he should have reacted to this before the story (even though the Politico didn’t tell him what he was supposed to react to because they never divulged the content of the story) came out. Now he’s talking to a lawyer (good advice) who’s advising him on LEGAL issues and that’s wrong too. The best thing he can do is hold his head up. Any story that changes like this (Duke LaCrosse) eventually reaches absurdity...it’s getting close and the truth will out.

Two questions: What legal action do you think Cain could take against Politico that would benefit him? When Cain's records are subpoenaed and he is deposed under oath by Politico's lawyers, how do you think that will benefit him?

Cain has confirmed most of the initial allegations. There is nothing here to sue for. If he files suit, his campaign is dead in the water, if it isn’t already. Jeez, this guy is lame.
