Italian cold fusion machine passes another test

Despite a world of skepticism about E-Cat and other devices, proof is adding up

Italian physicist and inventor Andrea Rossi has conducted a public demonstration of his "cold fusion" machine, the E-Cat, at the University of Bologna, showing that a small amount of input energy drives an unexplained reaction between atoms of hydrogen and nickel that leads to a large outpouring of energy, more than 10 times what was put in.

The first seemingly successful cold fusion experiment was reported two decades ago, but the process has forever been met with heavy skepticism. It's a seemingly impossible process in which two types of atoms, typically a light element and a heavier metal, seem to fuse together, releasing pure heat that can be converted into electricity. The process is an attractive energy solution for two reasons: Unlike in nuclear fission, the reaction doesn't give off dangerous radiation. Unlike the fusion processes that take place in the sun, cold fusion doesn't require extremely high temperatures.

If this isn’t a hoax, when the principles are fully understood, gasoline engines will become obsolete, petroleum rich countries will have their spigots of cash cut off, Almost every coal, nuclear, and gas fired power plant in the country will be shut down, gasoline and diesel engines will become obsolete. Jeez, talk about a game changer.

You called it Bro. MASS Kudos to you!!!

How many INTRADE shares do you own on the E-Cat tests?

I've heard various estimates for the energy release per fusion. About 8 Mev seems average among the estimates I've seen. That would be 10^-12 joules per atom, times Avogadro's number (6.0221415 × 10^23) = 8*10^11 joules per mole (59 grams for nickel). So 59 grams of nickel would produce on the order of (8*10^11 / 1,000,000 / 3600 = ) over 200 MWH

Except for the fact that nickel is on the wrong side of the curve of binding energy, you'd have a point.

You keep forgetting that I gave up on you, is that it?

You have some kind of man-crush on me, right? Is that why you keep posting to me even though I gave up on having reasonable discussion with you?

Thanks for the reminder of how wise it was to give up on you.

ROTFLMAO. I don’t own a single stock. I am just like a whole lot of other people, I don’t have health insurance, and I am just darn grateful my family has an income with me in school. We are just trying to dig out like everyone else.

If this is correct, and a repeat performance of the test is heartening to say the least.

You see, it changes everything.

I WISH I had some of that stock!

Powder..patch..ball FIRE!

Why repost questions that have nothing to do with the technology?

Why ask Kevno for proof, he and members of the cold fusion ping list are interested and intrigued and hopeful.

Several of the articles posted recently have had hard technical data on the interactions between the nickle and hydrogen atoms.

Powder..patch..ball FIRE!

Remarkably in our merriment at discovering how to make really big atom bombs and hydrogen bombs, and doing the STRONG NUCLEAR FORCE thing we overlooked the WEAK NUCLEAR FORCE.

Agreed, One of these things is good for military deterrent one of them isn’t?

The other thing that quite a few of these seagulls don’t think about or mention is that the technology involving STRONG NUCLEAR FORCE has been leveraged since the Chicago Pile-1 developed in 1942 by Fermi and his team. (and that his first demonstration was for 28 minutes).

Except for the fact that nickel is on the wrong side of the curve of binding energy, you'd have a point.

Toddsterpatriot has an interesting point. Nickel is on the wrong side of iron on the binding curve. But at that top of the curve there appears to be a little bit of wiggle room among certain isotopes.

The proposed mechanism of LENR has nickel absorbing a low-energy neutron, and then undergoing a beta decay (electron emission) to form copper.

Ni-64 mass is 63.9279660. Neutron mass is 1.00866491600. Ni-64 + neutron makes 64.936630916; Ni-65 mass is 64.9300843. Difference is 0.006546616 amu. 1 amu = 931.46 MeV/c2, so 0.006546616 amu converts to 6.0979 MeV.

The second stage has a neutron undergoing beta decay and producing another 2 MeV, but the diagram does not account for the energy needed to produce the ULM neutron that's needed in stage 1. The theory has the ULM neutron happening from electron capture by a hydrogen nucleus in the nickel matrix. I'm going to assume that the energy needed would be on the order of the energy emitted by the inverse process of beta decay.

Anybody else want to check my math?

You might want to check in with Dr. Josephson the leading theoritical advisor to Rossi. He has a different idea.

You aware that Kevmo plays the INTRADE market so thus pumps and scams to drive his stock price higher?
