....PERRY: Well, let me just put it this way. The federal government's complete and absolute failure to secure our border put a lot of pressure on governors no matter where they might be to have to deal with issues. You are required to give health care, you are required to give education. And Texans made a decision -- are we going to kick these people to the side of the road and they are going to become tax wasters? Or are we going to require that they become citizens of the United States and become taxpayers? We chose the latter. I would still do that today, considering the barriers that if you will, the arena that we have to work in.
As the president of the United States, I am against the DREAM Act. I will shut that border down because I have had to deal with it for 10 years. I understand. I am putting Texas Rangers and National Guard, I am putting Texas citizens on the line over there, they are being fired at. Thank God none of them have been killed yet. But the fact is, I know how to secure that border. When I am the president, that border will be secure. And these issues that we have been forced to deal with as governors, will start being alleviated. And then we can have a decent, a thoughtful and economically focused conversation about immigration policy.
HANNITY: So you think you could secure the border in what period of time if you're president?
PERRY: I think you can do it within a year. I mean, seriously, within a year --

Is this what passes as comment now on FR?
It’s piss poor.
If that angers you. Good.
Now call on the mods and the flying monkeys and whom ever you want to bandage your hurt feelings.
The End!!!!
I'm not defending Perry on his immigrations policies, just the border fence issue.
If I owned property on the border, I'd let 'em build it, but we seem to have a bunch of sympathizers on the Texas border.
Perry's using the same slimy tactics he used in Texas----only difference is that outside Texas, people are onto his tricks. The more Perry talks, the lower his numbers sink----he's now pulling down single digits, in the bottom tier of candidates.
============================================
REFERENCE Texas conservatives-----who say they did not support Perry-----nevertheless voted for him, twice for agriculture commissioner, once for lieut governor, three times for governor. They say they were convinced Perry's opponents were much worse.
ANALYSIS This was Perry's winning strategy----that he milked for all it was worth----to make his opponents look much worse than he was. (Payoffs for saying certain things have been known to occur elsewhere.)
I still believe Texans DO NOT have a very big say in Perry's odd string of election wins. Perry's 2012 race is now in trouble, b/c outside Texas, people are onto him.
Now, Texans were duped into believing that if Perry DID NOT win, Texas would be stuck with a Dem gov/leg majority. BUT even with Repubs holding 101 of 150 Texas House seats....conservative issues still come up short with the Repub Perry/Repub House Speaker Strauss partnership.
Now isn't that interesting? Wonder if it ever occurred to conservative Texans why their issues always come up short with so-called "conservative" Perry AND a Repub controlled legislature?
Also odd that many Texans DID NOT EVEN KNOW Perry was showering their tax dollars on illegals---in-state tuition---etc, etc, etc.
So did Texans think it was odd that Perry "said" he was foursquare for "conservative reforms---eliminating sanctuary cities for illegals, so very dear to the heart of Texans? But when the bill came up for vote, lo, and behold....Big Money came raining down---and the bill went down to defeat.
Did Texans ever wonder HOW that happened? Did a lot of hefty state grants, govt contracts and plum appointments go flying out the gov's door after the vote? Did a lot of Texas "conservative" legislators suddenly get nice campaign contributions after the vote?
CONCLUSION: Perry's only concern is to make Mexico happy---the rest of America be dammed. No way will borders be protected by Mexico's 2012 candidate---Senor Ricardo Perry. Mexico needs Perry and cadres of illegals (voting blocs) to get their hands on billions in foreign aid.

Drug running is lucrative
If some how Sarah Palin were to reenter the race, I would vote for her over Herman Cain.... so don’t call me a Herman Cainbot.
Words, When he allows the Texas Rangers, National Gueard and Citizens to shhot the invaders then he is doing something. He has not requested for that the feds “protect each of them against Invasion”. He has dropped the ball because he does not want to stop the invasion.
If he “can”, then why hasn’t he? Texas has a border and the state is full of illegals. How gullible does he think we are?
The biggest liar on the planet. Those who believe him are either naive or stupid.
I agree 100%
All benefits. All of them.
I would allow for emergency-only medical for "the children", but the bill would have to be paid even if mom or dad had to pick up trash on the road to get the money. And if they refuse to pay - JAIL or deportation.
As for Jim Rob,I have so much respect for that man he is a very precious person..
So, what has it been? 6 weeks since the Perry debate implosion with the "you have no heart" comment. I wrote immediately after that that Perry has to pound the drums on how he's going to secure the border. That he's the man to do that and no one is going to do more than Perry in shutting down illegal immigration.
6 weeks later, the experienced, long time professional politician Rick Perry takes 6 weeks to plug the gaping hole in his campaign.
Yup, we need an experienced professional politician, who'll handle media storms correctly.
Perry blew it, it shot himself in the foot, then dug deeper.
Drug running is lucrative
You’re right. It took me a moment to understand the implication.
Cain is a liar.
Perry isn’t.
It’s that simple.
