BagCamAddict: Cain told his strategy guy (the guy now working for Perry) about this in 2003. The article says Cain does not regret telling him because your strategy guy needs to know everything in order to do his job....
But if Cain told the strategy guy about it in 2003, surely he told Mark Block about it in 2011. So what's up with Cain and the campaign claiming they had to wrack their brains? Or are we talking about different incidents?

Why, why was Cain not prepped to handle this when it inevitably came out?

If Perry or Romney didn't pull this sick stunt now, then Obama's mobsters would be glad to do it at the most hurtful time next year.

Outside the beltway is a good thing. Amateur hour against the vicious Marxist crew is not.

I kinda tend to think he didnt think it was that big of a deal. Granted he should have been more prepared, but how he is a one man show and everywhere, he has by no means shyed away from the media which pissed all the Palinhaters out there because she didnt do anything but tweet or facbook. Your damned if you do and damned if you dont.

Oh for God’s sake. If you read everything written about this, Politico never gave the Cain team any facts on what they had. They were in the dark until all this came out. All they new was that Politico had something but wouldn’t tell them what.

Now, just what the hell were they to do? WHAT?

I would have been perfectly okay with Cain coming forward and saying, “when I was with NRA, some allegations were made against me. I denied those allegations and in the interest of saving $ and appeasing attorneys, settlements were made. If I have ever said or done anything in my professional career that was interpreted as sexual harassment, I’m truly sorry and I regret that my actions or words caused pain but I fail to see how this has anything to do with my ability to lead this Country out of the mess that Obama and the democrats have created.”

Well I don’t know. If Herman fades and Perry rises, do ya think he is going to get a clean bill of reputation from the media?

If you do, you must be nuts.

Perhaps Perry should do an “i am guilty” on his history rife with cronyism before it is too late.

And how about those phony gay allegations? The MSM will make them fact instead of lies. Perhaps some guys will come out, but keep their names quiet because they might fear retaliation.

That is how it works.

Look, if this is the big thing it is being made out to be, the third woman has nothing to lose by showing her name and face.

If Cain is lying, then he will not get the nomination. So far, I haven’t seen adequate info to say one way or the other.

but there was nothing in zer0’s background that needed vetting...

I agree..I can not for the life ofme understand how someone with anything remotely like these ‘allegations” in his past could not be totally prepared for this..that bothers me.

That is the point, isn’t it? Which campaign, REPUBLICAN campaign, was to blame. That is the most troubling aspect of this.

Most convoluted if, and, or, buts I have ever read. Both people worked for perry, some of the perrywinkles have been saying they had something coming for days. Perrys camp is the only option.

It's a good question. My guess is that Cain is just as honest as he appears, and it didn't occur to him that someone would try to spin a closed case from the distant past to try to hurt him.

Given that the original charges were likely completely baseless, Cain may not have given any of this a second thought after it was originally dealt with, twelve years ago. It's one of the downsides to having clean hands.

Those with much to hide are constantly on guard for such revelations. Not so with those who conduct their lives with honesty and integrity.

You’re right of course. Bit there’s more to this than meets the eye. What’s going on here? Why is Rush Limbaugh risking all of his credibility in support of Cain. I understand the Justice Thomas friendship but the Cain situation is not that. Cain enjoys a kinship with Rush and others because of his former talk radio show. He also enjoys a kinship with big businesses because he was a pro-business lobbyist. Absolutely nothing wrong with either.
But, Limbaugh was out of control today mimicking accusers he’s never seen or met. This happened 15 years ago. Mimicking would-be accusers. I’ve been a non-stop listener since 1989 but today was disgusting. There are a lot more dignified ways to show support for someone running for President of the United States than what Rush demonstrated today. I
thought he was running a three hour infomercial for the past three days.
Most of it led me to beloeve that no sexual harrassment charges are valid. He suggested at least one of those women was actually fired. I don’t remember seeing that. How much would all this radio time cost all the other candidates?

I’d like to see the governor I admire step forward. I’m tired of the pussy-footing around. If Perry knows his camp is clear on this matter, I hope he takes off the gloves and pounds Cain into oblivion on a lot of his simplistic policy and his heartless comments about frying Mexicans on a fence. You can’t laugh or sing everything away. Some things are not funny. Like China and nukes. They’re downright stupid. Now I know my opinions aren’t echoed by anyone on FreeRepublic so in making these last statements, I recognize I have to exile myself and I will. I feel like I’m in a shoot for a new V series.

The Republican Party is not racist. Nobody is doing anything to Cain because he’s black, Rush! This is a distraction. I’m ashamed that we haven’t taken the opportunity to show the American people that things can be better doing it our way. I asked my neighbors to give me forty-five minutes and I could convert them from liberal to conservative. Evidently our way is now their way. It’s all about race and I don’t want any part of it.
And meanwhile, all the Democrats are buying their second box of popcorn, Rush!
God bless all.
