How 'bout this...Romney has offered Cain the VP slot to take out Perry over this...a Romney/Cain ticket would likely give Mitt cover for mormonism's racist past. Don't think this hasn't been factored into the plan.

That theory is certainly not to be ruled out. Romney is as low as they come.

I will say this for Romney...he's on a par with Obama for this nasty campaigning....he did it in '08.

Yes, and he did it even after the primary - planting stuff about Governor Palin when he saw that her instant and meteoric popularity might be a threat to his 2012 hopes.

But you never, ever saw Gov. Palin point fingers and make accusations.

This whole thing stinks to high Heaven.

Both people worked for perry, some of the perrywinkles have been saying they had something coming for days. Perrys camp is the only option.

Look. These are baseless accusations....not even settlements actually. Severance agreements for piddling sums.

Cain merely had to have a two-or-three line consistent statement worked up "for days now" or if Mark Block wasn't reading the perrywinkles on FR like you getting "days" warning, then a few hours to draft a coherent response should've been plenty.

This guy is still playing amateur whack-a-mole.

>> “Wrong. It was a Title 7 sexual harassment allegation that resulted in a settlement.” <<

Nonsense.

There is no record of such.

Why, why was Cain not prepped to handle this when it inevitably came out?

It's a good question. My guess is that Cain is just as honest as he appears, and it didn't occur to him that someone would try to spin a closed case from the distant past to try to hurt him.

Given that the original charges were likely completely baseless, Cain may not have given any of this a second thought after it was originally dealt with, twelve years ago. It's one of the downsides to having clean hands.

Those with much to hide are constantly on guard for such revelations. Not so with those who conduct their lives with honesty and integrity.

“a normal rational debate”

Well my guy has been on the radio telling everybody who was able to listen, everything he stood for, for the past five and half years and, has been featured in every debate, and has had his policies made clear in virtually every forum.

Perry has a record to run on, it’s impressive as far as it goes, the problem I’ve got with the man is his seemingly slick huckster style. It’s been said here, and really is patently obvious, that he’s a poor advocate of whatever it is he believes in, in any format. One would have to be articulate in conveying what they believed in, in order to fill the highest office in the land, i.e. “Mr. Gorbachov, tear down this wall”.

I really cannot get over the fact that at anytime he supported Al Gore for anything other than prison stripes. The fact that he supported Gore for president is a nonstarter. No way no how.

Danger Will Rogers! Danger!

This is a 2fer. Yes, it is too soon for the Dems to pull this stuff. But think about this. If they expose some trash on Cain and take out Perry at the same time, Who benefits?

Was it a (Obozo) Dem job, was it a Romney job, was it a Perry job. It sure smells like something Zero would do. NO?

I simply don’t believe Perry did this. Sorry, flame away, but I do not believe it......

Yap, I posted as such. Always ask the same question a good homicide detective asks....who had the most to gain from the crime. In this case not Romney since Cain’s support would not transfer to Romney. Perry benefits the most if Cain drops out.

“Forbes has to be excerpted.”

My post was an excerpt. The article is 2 pages. I merely excerpted the part about the OnMessage connection.

I'll put it in my own words.

The company in question is called OnMessage, Inc. Curt Anderson is a partner there.

When Politico's editor-in-chief was asked about their reporter's story, he replied the reporter was “On Message” and he would try to stay “On Message” too. Was this an inside joke? Politico denied that they meant anything by the “On message” comment.

You’re right of course. Bit there’s more to this than meets the eye. What’s going on here? Why is Rush Limbaugh risking all of his credibility in support of Cain. I understand the Justice Thomas friendship but the Cain situation is not that. Cain enjoys a kinship with Rush and others because of his former talk radio show. He also enjoys a kinship with big businesses because he was a pro-business lobbyist. Absolutely nothing wrong with either.
But, Limbaugh was out of control today mimicking accusers he’s never seen or met. This happened 15 years ago. Mimicking would-be accusers. I’ve been a non-stop listener since 1989 but today was disgusting. There are a lot more dignified ways to show support for someone running for President of the United States than what Rush demonstrated today. I
thought he was running a three hour infomercial for the past three days.
Most of it led me to beloeve that no sexual harrassment charges are valid. He suggested at least one of those women was actually fired. I don’t remember seeing that. How much would all this radio time cost all the other candidates?

I’d like to see the governor I admire step forward. I’m tired of the pussy-footing around. If Perry knows his camp is clear on this matter, I hope he takes off the gloves and pounds Cain into oblivion on a lot of his simplistic policy and his heartless comments about frying Mexicans on a fence. You can’t laugh or sing everything away. Some things are not funny. Like China and nukes. They’re downright stupid. Now I know my opinions aren’t echoed by anyone on FreeRepublic so in making these last statements, I recognize I have to exile myself and I will. I feel like I’m in a shoot for a new V series.

The Republican Party is not racist. Nobody is doing anything to Cain because he’s black, Rush! This is a distraction. I’m ashamed that we haven’t taken the opportunity to show the American people that things can be better doing it our way. I asked my neighbors to give me forty-five minutes and I could convert them from liberal to conservative. Evidently our way is now their way. It’s all about race and I don’t want any part of it.
And meanwhile, all the Democrats are buying their second box of popcorn, Rush!
God bless all.

Wilson that was interviewed this AM does polling for perry, and has written articles supporting perry, and the other clown also now works for perry. End of story.

Don't you think that these associations might be just a tad OBVIOUS? Who would use this strategery and then publicly hire these people?

Looks like a big red herring to me. Everybody look...LOOK...over here!

Do you SERIOUSLY believe that Herman Cain's support would transfer to Gov. Perry? Have you read the posts on here? These Cain supporters have expressed the most vitriolic hatred of Perry that I have ever heard - in some cases - even more than Obama!

I think absolutely that Cain's support would go to Romney! Herman Cain has already said that he would be willing to run as VP on a Romney ticket. Their man has pronounced Romney to be "bona fide".

According to what little polling I’ve seen, the Cain vote would go to Romney, Gingrich, Perry and Bachmann in that order.
