Political experts all agreed over the summer that Newt Gingrichs candidacy was done. But Gingrich never got the message. In a volatile election cycle, Gingrich has battled his way back into contention, rising to third place in several national and state polls on the force of his ideas and breadth of knowledge of how Washington does and does not work. After nationally televised debates and local town halls, Gingrich has made voters want to give him a second look, especially after he speaks emphatically about American Exceptionalism and about bureaucrats and unelected judges who threaten to undermine it. His fundraising, endorsements and momentum have surged, and he has used his high name identification, his multiple multimedia platforms, and new technologies to get his message and ideas out.
Gingrich is back in contention, but now faces a critical point in the campaign, two months before the Iowa Caucus: Can he get voters to, as he often likes to say, be with him for the next eight years instead of merely being for him so he can emerge as chief rival to Mitt Romney? Part of Gingrichs appeal is that voters feel comfortable that he would be more than capable of intellectually handling the demands of the presidency. In a wide-ranging interview with HUMAN EVENTS, Gingrich spoke about the issues and ideas of the day and about his candidacy.

That speaks volumes.
Nothing beats Newt for durability.
Just wait till Newt rises to the top, and all his flaws are exposed.
I’m not looking for flawless. I’m looking for staunch conservatism and a good man - Cain.
Newt’s flaws have been exposed for years.
Yeah but Newt has no skeletons in his closet....errr, um. Never mind.
I like Newt, and he’s been great in the debates, but no one in this race is more flawed. He has both personal flaws and professional ones, as he was essentially removed from the speakership by his own leadership team for his over-reaching and megalomania.
The word POLITICIAN aptly describes Newt and is one of many reasons I will take Herman Cain over Newt .
If you know its a snake when you pick it up.......
We’ve already seen Cain’s flaws. He knows next to nothing about a lot of important things about being president. Foreign policy being chief among them.
Further he has limited political skills and frankly he just isn’t talented enough to win a national race - especially given he’s never won anything before. Cain is the flavor of the month - nothing more.
Callista!!!
Most women can't stand her.. Notice that she has all but disappeared from the campaign trail, just as his numbers start to take off.
IMHO, Newt would be a perfect VP candidate for either Cain or Perry..and that's what he wants, that's why he's stayed in the race.
Perry has little chance of winning. Cain has ZERO chance of winning. Romney may be able to win (questionable), but he’s unpopular with conservatives.
Newt has baggage (as does everyone), but he’s the most serious candidate, the most articulate, and the most prepared to wage a large scale political battle with Obama. I don’t view Newt as a bad person. He’s got a huge ego....but anyone who seeks the office of president has one.
And Newt is a lying opportunist scumbag who will sell you out at the drop of a hat.
John McCain II
I’m moving towards Newt. After watching the debates, reading the candidates articles and reading the reports of their various positions and statements Newt is the only one who is competent. He may be the man our country needs.
I don’t know anything about Callista, and I follow politics pretty closely. I suspect most people don’t know anything about her, and likely don’t care. They care about Obama and whomever the Republican is.
There’s no way Newt is in this to become Vice President.
I’m a Newt fan but the closet is too full of skeletons. He’s the smartest guy in any room he walks into and no one in the current field is more conservative than he is. He would beat Obama like a drum in the debates. Each debate would be an absolute schooling and utter humilation for Obama, which would be great fun to watch.
So it’s tempting, but again, the skeletons and high negatives give me pause at this point.
Conservative would rather have someone capable of managing a crisis, than someone who stumbles.
Newt’s been slimed before, only to have the IRS later rule that he’d handled the funding of his educational program in text book fashion.
Herman has taken too long to figure out how to address this attack. Too many versions allows the opposition to keep you on defense.
Newt is quite capable of staying on offense.
Then we are done. i will not vote for Romney and I will not against Obama again (McCain II)
