Uh oh: Witness found to Cain incidents? (Linked to ... Perry supporters??)
Hotair ^ | 11/02/2011 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 11/02/2011 11:00:59 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

So far, neither of the two alleged complainants from Herman Cain’s tenure at the National Restaurant Association have come forward publicly, although it appears at least one would like NRA to release her from her confidentiality agreement to do so. However, a pollster who worked for NRA at the time told KTOK in Oklahoma that he witnessed both incidents — and that if the women talk, Cain’s candidacy would be over:

Interviewed today on KTOK’s Mullins in the Morning, [Chris] Wilson, of Wilson-Perkins-Allen Opinion Research headquartered in Washington, D.C. explained he was a witness to the incident. “I was the pollster at the National Restaurant Association when Herman Cain was head of it and I was around a couple of times when this happened and anyone who was involved with the NRA at the time, knew that this was gonna come up.”

Wilson described the woman as a low level staffer who was maybe two years out of college. “This occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City (Virginia) and everybody was aware of it,” he continued. “It was only a matter of time because so many people were aware of what took place, so many people were aware of her situation, the fact she left—everybody knew with the campaign that this would eventually come up.”

Wilson claims that he also can’t discuss the specifics, for legal reasons. I’m not quite clear as to what that might be. He may have signed a broad non-disclosure agreement with NRA to get the polling work, but if that’s the case, he just violated it with this statement today. Unless he also participated in the settlement/severance agreements with the women, he’s as free to discuss the details as the fact that he witnessed them. And it’s difficult to see how Wilson would have been involved in a settlement between NRA and the two employees.

However, Wilson isn’t only linked to NRA and Cain from years gone by. His firm has conducted polling in this presidential race for the Make Us Great Again PAC. And guess which candidate is favored by MUGA-PAC? Why, none other than … Rick Perry. The PAC has no formal connection to Perry’s campaign, but it’s certainly boosting Perry as the Republican nominee in the primary.

Could Wilson be more than just a witness in this story? Could he be a source? It could just be a coincidence that a witness to these alleged incidents did work for an organization pushing Perry, and that the story mysteriously got to Politico as Cain took support away from Perry in mid-October. If he is the source, then conducting an interview on the topic has to be one of the dumber political moves I’ve seen.

Update: Some are saying that this indicates Romney as the source of the leak, but I’m not terribly convinced that a one-time donation means much. Romney has less to fear with Cain as his main opponent than others in the race, and besides, no one knows whether Anderson ever knew about the incidents at all. Other board members say they didn’t. YMMV, however.

The burden of proof is on Cain, because he wants our vote for President.
Cain needs to get in front of this- release all information regarding this issue- and let what happens, happen.
I personally think this whole sex harrassment issue is probably a non starter.
Women scream sex harrassment all the time. It happened to a couple of my family members, and they were able to fight back sucessfully. The ordeal for them was a year long process to prove their innocence.

I had a similar experience and, like you, I remember every detail of the conversation with my lawyer and our response to the threat. Cain's ever-changing memory of the allegations and their resolution is troublesome, even if the allegations themselves were baseless. As we learned many years ago with the Watergate affair, the cover-up is often more damaging than the underlying event.

How awful for you, but you're not Herman Cain and it's likely that you have never held a CEO positions like Herman Cain where you were responsible for hundreds and thousands of employees and had lawyers who handled severences and legal matters, right?

Your once in a life time law suit was traumatic to you. His wasn't and his were 12 years ago.

I am far from Herman Cain experiences, but I have been sued probably seven times and I can't recall the details, only the outcomes, (which I won), and I can't recall the names of all the attorneys who represented me nor the plaintiffs who sued me.

Its in the news that two women and a witness have come forward accusing Cain of harrassment. That’s a fact not a lie - its not even an opinion.

Have a nice day, and go away if you believe that "news" in 2011 is the same as "fact."

Life is too short to spend time among morons. Bye.

Yeah odd isn’t it that the “Witness” has a fudicary tie to the Perry campaign.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Look, we've gone around and around on on this and my criticism has been solely with the way Cain has handled it. I have not for one moment ever thought he had done what he was accused of.

A married man who is sued for sexual harrassment is not likely to forget the final resolution of the case.
Cain handled it badly, although I will still vote for him.

“and I was around a couple of times when this happened”

“This occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City (Virginia) and everybody was aware of it,”

Except that one was in the office and one was in Chicago, a woman he didn’t even know. This idjut seems to be ‘suggesting’ that this was something that happened all the time...everywhere...and everyone who has come out on this has said that this is absolutely ridiculous and not at all in Cain’s personality.

IIRC didn’t the slimeball who screwed up Sarah Palin’s appearance at the Iowa rally so badly that it was nearly cancelled ALSO have ‘distant’ ties to the perry campaign? The guy who couldn’t stay away from talking to the press?

rick perry has also used innuendo to accuse opponents of his in Texas of heinous things. He even accused one of being complicit in a law enforcement officer’s death.

It isn’t wrong to fully vet the candidates. What the hell do you think the 0bama campaign would do with the information in the general?

Besides, if he has a major character flaw we have the right to find out about it before any votes are cast.

Because I didn’t find it anywhere, and I do not believe Cain to be a threat to Perry. Perry is a threat to only himself.

Cain is a huge threat to Romney, the darling of the elitist Beltway insiders and RINOs.

Cain recused himself, had no part in the investigation, was completely unaware of the settlement details, and did not even sign off on it. What would you like him to do? Produce digital nonpictures of a virtual nonevent that he was literally not involved in?

If it was just a remark that some woman decided to be offended by, then most people will yawn.

Meanwhile, most Democrats could have been found keeping interns chained up in the basement as sex slaves and the media would consider it a non-story.

God forbid there is a conservative black American, who stands for the constitution.

No, I won’t call him an “African American” because he is just an AMERICAN!

Huh? I can’t stand Perry. I haven’t even said anything negative about Cain. I’m hoping he puts this behind him and deals with this in the right way, politically. The whole issue maybe BS. I hope it is. The rest of your comments make no sense, so I won’t bother.

Could you give us a link to that blog? It's always interesting to see where FR posters are also posting.

Thanks in advance.
