Romney Supporters Banned From Free Republic

Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.
In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

By their comments on the page, looks like being pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-limited government, pro-liberty is an extreme position for the readers of Fox News Nation. Strange, it matches up pretty closely to the official GOP party platform. People with these views used to be called patriotic Americans. It only goes to show how far out of control things have gone in just a couple generations since the passage of the 16th and 17th Amendments. Those have to be repealed. Unfortunately people don't see how those two amendments have come to damage country and will ultimately destroy our economy if not the nation.
Entitlements are not just about welfare, SS or Medicare. There are tens of millions of people tied into the federal bureaucracy through the agencies that regulate them (and their competitors), that provide money, grants and so many other policies that people have become dependent upon.
I could list hundreds of examples but just examine:
- Pell Grants, federal loans and other academic grants go to students and researchers at universities. So you have students, university faculty and university staff all in favor of these kinds of federal programs.
- FDA regulates the drug industry, so you have the people who need medicines, the people who make medicines and the people who dispense medicines all in favor of a large federal bureaucracy to regulate medicine and its practice using a very rigid, but perhaps largely inappropriate tool of measurement. You only have to look at "off label prescriptions" to see some light here. The FDA will allow doctors to use almost any approved drug to treat any ailment, but they will jail them if you use something they didn't approve to treat one. Obviously this system benefits those inside from "unapproved" economic assaults from the outside.
- Of course we have federal government funding research into climate change, which expanded the number of people in the field, who are necessarily biased by the mere fact that their livelihood is based on finding problem in the environment even if they try very hard to remain objective.
- You have tax attorneys, CPAs and even bookkeepers/controllers stuck to a tax code so businesses have to spend tens of billions a year to be sure they comply with codes enforced by an agency that spends tens of billions a year.
- You have political parties that love the current system because it gives power to the party instead of the states/constituencies. And on and on.
The only way out of this mess is to take back the reins. If we have to do it one at time, so be it. If we have to do it out of sequence, so be it. If we can only take one step in that direction, so be it. I will vote for 999 because that is the only viable plan to shake things up right now. We cannot wait. I am in favor of almost anything that will cut away all the obfuscation so people can see more clearly. And only when we all (or a big majority) can see clearly can we agree that this shell game is not only inefficient but corrupted and corrupting and needs to be changed back to the way things were designed to be: No federal income tax. No direct election of Senators.

Exactly.
Isn’t it good that we BOTH know that and have responded appropriately?
To: dubyagee; others
Of course it is. Just look at the opportunities Ive given so many freepers to practice their mildly denigrating adjectives, their rants, their dislikes, etc., in just one thread. In just one thread, Ive heard from freepers thatI havent talked with in a long time, or ever. How many times do freepers get to do that? Its a good exercise for the upcoming election year. Besides, its a pleasant way to reinforce what Ive thought for a long time.
Cheers all, be back tomorrow

I was also once a liberal (though much longer ago) who was convinced by reason and Light, I was NEVER a liberal.... just used to be ill-informed about Mittens.

Those ignorant folks just want to “believe” and they “believe” the lamesteam and the lamesteam polls that Romney can win.
No sale.
We only win with solid Conservatives.
Even when a liberal R wins, we still lose.

Very reasonable. I realize he may not be the strongest on a certain set of issues, but among the candidates (with a chance) is he among the most protectionist (against China), strong military, etc.
Aside from speaking about specifics, I just find it kind of sad reading that a large portion of those who supported him have vanished... I have messages in my inbox asking if anyone is still left that supports him. It’s similar to when people have been made afraid to speak as they please in a place they wish to reside. Not that I post here a lot or have any significant investment to care much, I just like some of the things I can find to read here.

Oh you forgot to mention, "hate", "bigot"..and maybe even "murderer" in your post.

Oh, my! Isn’t it wonderful to be appreciated. And admired.
Seriously, your posts seemed modest and unassuming to me, but it seems that some people are on about a 2 second standby to General Quarters!
However, perpetual DEFCON 4 makes effective preemption/sustained reaction impossible. Is too fatiguing. In fact, think I will go watch Bill O’Reilly!
‘Night, all.

“I also support Romney....there are plenty of sites that allow complete open-ended debate/promotion, which is truly free...”
I oppose Romney.
But will vote for him over Obama if necessary as I expect you to do similarly if you are reasonable minded.
I’ll look for you on the ‘truly free’ sites. We’ll rassle where reason runs free.

Exactly, as scary as four more years of Zero might be, four years of Myth could actually be worse because the RINOs in Congress would line up behind him.
