Other professional groups are pitching in to help Perry. The Texas Medical Associations political action committee recently endorsed him for president, and its members are helping him raise money and make connections with medical groups in other states.
Dr. John Gill, a Dallas orthopedic surgeon, said helping Perry tap into medical associations in a state like Florida could help him in the GOP primary.
The medical community is well aware of whats happening in Texas with tort reform that strictly limited medical malpractice judgments, Gill said. Most Republicans dont like lawsuits and excessive litigation. Were trying to help him not only with medical groups, but we need to push his message to the general public.
For some Iowa voters, though, Perry could do more to connect with farmers, by talking about his roots more.
It doesnt always come up, and certainly thats a surprise to some people, said Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey, who says hes undecided in the contest.
But when he does, it can resonate.
Im looking at the corn being harvested right now and thinking about what this agriculture land is worth in Iowa, Perry said. You learn a lot growing up on a farm. Its doesnt make difference if its Wilton, Iowa, or Paint Creek, Texas. Its the value of hard work. Its the duty to family and country those values you learn on a farm are pretty good values for the president of the United States.
Perry has proposed reshaping the Environmental Protection Agency and doing away with regulations that hurt farmers and small businesses.

Nobody at Fox is laying a glove on Romney. He has sovereign immunity. Its a full-time attack Perry and Cain assault. You and I may have given up on Fox but thousands and thousands of other people get their news and daily thoughts from this network. They are forming public opinion and its making me puke.
I honestly think Perry's slide is 70% on Fox's back. Their primetime guru's (Krautheimer, Morris, Coulter) are all in Romney's camp and bitterly anti-Perry. They honestly need to change their name from Fox to the GOP Establishment Network.
So, who should help? His enemies?
La Raza Rick IS an establishment candidate.
There’s a strong thread in the press that ignores the issues and uses distractions to paint the Governor in a bad light.
I like the word “susurrus.” There’s a constant, underlying whispering chatter about Perry’s ability to speak and his intelligence. They forget that he served 4 years as an Air Force pilot and has been re-elected by Texans 3 times for nearly 11 years in our State, with its healthy economy that is able to absorb 1000 people from the US every day.
As he’s said, let’s see the college transcripts of all his competitors and detractors.
Perry has some great ideas so he has some powerful enemies who don’t want him messing with their racket on a national level.
Good for the TX Med. Assoc.
This article reports ways and reasons his friends and supporters are aiding him in his campaign.
Bump.
I actually like the clips of the NH speech the lamestream, (including Faux News) are slamming him for. Bernie played 1:30 minutes of it this morning on Imus, calling him either drunk or on back pain meds, but it looked to me like he was just relaxed and having fun. His audience loved it and him.
but it looked to me like he was just relaxed and having fun. His audience loved it and him.
A good read on the situation as I see it. If one took the time to watch the entire 25 or so minutes of the speech and then reviewed the spiced together 8 minutes of clips you’ll get the concept of his performance. He was at ease with the audience of Christians whom he has brotherly feelings for and was trying to enjoy the moment with them. JMO.
Oh, yeah. the medical community should support him big time and apparently they are.
Tort reform is huge. Frivolous lawsuits have cost doctors (and patients) dearly.
He should also relate very well to farmers because that’s his heritage.
By the way, some bug spray is needed on this thread,
I agree. At least he didn’t sing.
Although if I could sing as well as Cain, I’d sing too.
I guess Gretchen on Fox and Friends insinuated he was drunk. Yesterday a few Freepers were laying the groundwork that Perry wasn't just drunk but was a drunk as well as trying to insinuate the Cain story came from the Perry camp. This is a quote I took from one of the threads that was ahead of this trying to lay the groundwork on FR.
Well since this idiot is not getting the nomination, who cares. He is probably drinking even more than normal after these results. The guy is not only scum but a drunk as well.
It's clear there are operatives here on FR. There was a guy who had been here 2 days posting derogatory comments about Anita Perry which were completely off base.
In Texas, Governor Rick Perry is our establishment candidate, as long as you don’t count trial lawyers in the establishment.
And not a naughty or off-color joke in the whole 25 minutes, unless you count the tom cat comment. (that was what made me uncomfortable with Huckabee)
Perry has been in the public eye for a long time in Texas (and I’ve been here as well)
The Dallas Morning News has always hated him but they’ve been doing daily articles on him lately that are almost fair. I’m amazed.
AS to his being a drunk, I’ve never heard a whisper about that and I think I would have.
I’m not as privy to political gossip as I used to be, but with all his enemies in the press here, something would have been mentioned.
I posted on another thread that back when I knew a lot of democrats around here, the word was that Ann Richards was quite the lush. Everybody knew it. And her dear friend, columnist Molly Ivins was one also.
We used to say that Ann and Molly drank breakfast together every day.
Here's another one and these are regulars on Perry threads. Posted yesterday.
Here’s the whole thing, from the beginning. BTW, at 7 minutes in, he talks about Herman Cain. He’s not the least bit mean-spirited.

At 9 minutes in, he talks about the family and the damage that government can do. He goes on to talk about his family and how he grew up.
