ATLANTA (AP) — Conservatives rallied around Herman Cain as he battles sexual harassment allegations, likening the attacks on the Republican presidential contender to what they describe as the "high-tech lynching" of another prominent black Republican: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
The forceful early reaction to the Cain firestorm — fueled by racially charged rhetoric — suggests the Georgia businessman's attempt to cast himself as a victim of the media and liberals is, so far, paying dividends among his conservative Republican base, who will hold considerable sway in selecting the party's nominee.
But the accusations against Cain, an untested newcomer on the political scene, may give more moderate GOP voters pause and could cause would-be donors to shy away even as Cain works to capitalize on his rising poll numbers. With the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucus less than three months away, the harassment allegations — and Cain's response to them — have the potential to reshuffle the GOP race.
So far, the early cry from the right is to support Cain using a race-based defense and familiar targets. Becoming a target of the left and the media could bolster Cain's support among those who view those groups with disdain.

I haven’t made my mind up about Herman Cain yet, but this latest charge of Sexual Harrasment is bullsh*t.

Who hasn’t? Who hasn’t joked with some woman with no sense of humor who probably would have sued if she thought we had enough money to be worth the effort.Who hasn’t given someone the Finger?
Whether it's because of the Democrat Party-enforced Jim Crow laws of the 19th and early 20th Centuries ("We's afraid the colored man would force himself on our white wimmen"), or the War on Poverty that took away the burden of raising families from the men and gave it to the government, to their stereotyping of Thomas and Cain. They even believe the same thing about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, both womanizers- "After all, they's only colored men, wif no lack of control".
Now the Democrats are trying to lynch another black man who escaped the Plantation, and won't be a tap-dancin', bowin'-n-scrapin', Stepin' Fetchit Minstrel for them.
Beat Cain on the issues or get out of the way. The GOP grassroots are done putting up with this sort sleazy whisper campaign tactics from the Rovebot GOP machine.
They keep this crap up and Rove and the GOP machine my just buy themselves an independent challenger from the Tea party for the 2012 elections.
This is going to be an incredibly dirty and vicious compaign. The Socialists realize that this is their last stand. If they lose this, the real Democrats are going to rise up and throw their sorry asses out of the party and begin to resurrect the real Democrat Party.
You sir win the gold star. That is exactly what this story is about, to drain off any moderates and independents as they can.
As I said on another thread, this accusation is being stoked by an unholy alliance of the inside the beltway crowd, left and right. Cain is as big a threat to both.
It’s funny because the GOP base was mot supporting Cain before this!
If America hasn’t yet awaken to these oh so predictable campaign October type surprises, they never will.
Republicans want you grandparents and kids to starve and go homeless.
They want dirty air and water.
They want to end social security.
They want to drag blacks from trucks or Lynch them from trees.
they push the wheelchair elderly off docks.
They want women barefoot and pregnant.
The want minority voters to be dis-enfranchised.
Its dejavous all over again.

Not a big Cain fan but would like to know why we don’t know zip about Barry and the media harps on this. Would love to know more about the accusers.

Facebook likes are a new way to count “buzz.” Starting from way back, Herman has increased his “likes” by 8% in just the last week. Mitts has a huge lead in “likes” but he has been running for a long time.
I just don’t see anyone who already supports Cain changing their mind because of these frivolous accusations.
We need to seriously pile donations around Herman. He is our only chance. Seriously!! And I really like him. But no one is out trying to trip up Romney like they are Cain. I guess perry was assigned to trip up himself. Donate to Cain. Fight that media. Don’t fall for their magnification of imperfections.
It is not a contest between Herman Cain and perfection. It’s a contest between him and, ultimately, Obama. Don’t let people turn from Cain because of the stuff the MSM dredges up!
Before this news release y Karl and Mittens that attacks a good man like Cain, I was leaning Cain. Now I’m fully behind him and donated for the first time yesterday.
The best gift we can give Mittens and the Rovians is a conservative nominee. They want badly for Cain to fade like other candidates. I think, it’ll surprise them when fundraising figures are released and Cain wins a primary.
I heard Juan Williams say yesterday that the Democrats are terrified of Herman Cain.
He did, and they are.
Cain is not only up against the billion dollar Democratic party but he/we need to fight the powerful Republican establishment of good old boys.
We cannot get week kneed or discouraged.
I am not retreating just reloading.
