Republican presidential frontrunner Herman Cain got a tongue lashing on Sunday from CBS Face the Nation moderator Bob Schieffer over a much-publicized Cain campaign ad showing Cains chief of staff, Mark Block, taking a drag from a cigarette.
In a rare editorial opinion during the interview, Schieffer accused the former Godfathers CEO of allowing his campaign to send a signal that its cool to smoke.
Let me just tell you, its not funny to me, Schieffer told Cain. I am a cancer survivor, like you. I had cancer thats smoking-related. I dont think its serves the country well and this an editorial opinion here to be showing someone smoking a cigarette. And youre the front runner now.
Schieffer added: And it seems to me as front runner you would have a responsibility of not to take that kind of a tone. I would suggest that perhaps as the front runner, you would want to raise the level of the campaign.
Cain responded that, We will do that Bob, and I do respect your objection to the ad. And probably about 30 percent of the feedback was very similar to yours. It was not intended to offend anyone and being a cancer survivor myself, I am sensitive to that sort of thing.
The online ad went viral last week on the Internet and on cable TV for being unorthodox. The ad shows Block taking a smoke from a cigarette after asking voters to get involved in the campaign.

My guess would be yes. However, only Laz could truly tell us.
I think he picked the freedom wing.
Their is no freedom in the addiction of smoking at least for the kids who start under the age of 18.
Cain needs to NOT irritate 30% of his base.
Go Cain!
Give me a break! Like people didn't know that cigarettes existed before this ad came out.
Exactly. And then there’s this angle: Michelle Obama, food police. You just *know* she’d love to ream Cain for his ‘bad example’, but she’s neutered by her own husband. Do you think an aggressive, angry woman like Michelle is not making her displeasure known? I bet Barry is dodging the equivalent of verbal ashtrays every time he sets foot in the living quarters. That’s building up a vast resevoire of frustration and anger, which Malignant Narcissists do NOT handle well. Cain is adeptly pushing Obama’s buttons, and he doesn’t even need to say his name.
This is going to get good, count on it.
No freedom in the addiction of anything. At least the government is not in control. YOU ARE!
GO CAIN!
If zero smokes I smoke, there’s my answer.
What about all the children health programs Mark has contributed to with all those taxes he has paid with his cigarette purchases? He smokes so much he has probably funded a wing of a major hospital! Go Cain!
When we see Herman eating a big
juicy hamburger we will see.
I guess since Cain’s “Smoking Man” video went viral, Perry decided to put out his own “Drunk Man” video:

Seems that he’s doing quite well in his career for a 74 year old. Perhaps all of those cigarettes he smoked for all those years prevented him from going senile.
But you repeat yourself.
“Dont smoke. I never smoke, and I have encouraged people not to smoke, he (Cain) added.
And its not a cool thing to do, Schieffer said, PRODDING him along.
It is not a cool thing to do, Cain said. Thats not what it was trying to say.
Hmmm, I wonder if the MSM could get Obama to say the same...LOL.
No-brainer - both Obamas are the living epitome of unabashed “Do as I say, not as I do” hypocrisy.....
Scheiffer’s just gave Cain’s smoking ad about a million more viewings. Everytime these sore losers bring up the ad there are more viewings of the ad...
“When we see Herman eating a big
juicy hamburger we will see.”
Lol. Yes, if we see that, it will be definitive. I hope it’s in the offing.
hahaha, was he saying in a backhanded way that 70% favored the ad? I did if only because I am sick of the self-righteous smoking nazis.
