Republican presidential frontrunner Herman Cain got a tongue lashing on Sunday from CBS’ Face the Nation moderator Bob Schieffer over a much-publicized Cain campaign ad showing Cain’s chief of staff, Mark Block, taking a drag from a cigarette.
In a rare “editorial opinion” during the interview, Schieffer accused the former Godfather’s CEO of allowing his campaign to send a signal that “it’s cool to smoke.”
“Let me just tell you, it’s not funny to me,” Schieffer told Cain. “I am a cancer survivor, like you. I had cancer that’s smoking-related. I don’t think its serves the country well – and this an editorial opinion here – to be showing someone smoking a cigarette. And you’re the front runner now.”
Schieffer added: “And it seems to me as front runner you would have a responsibility of not to take that kind of a tone. I would suggest that perhaps as the front runner, you would want to raise the level of the campaign.”
Cain responded that, “We will do that Bob, and I do respect your objection to the ad. And probably about 30 percent of the feedback was very similar to yours. It was not intended to offend anyone and being a cancer survivor myself, I am sensitive to that sort of thing.”
The online ad went viral last week on the Internet and on cable TV for being unorthodox. The ad shows Block taking a smoke from a cigarette after asking voters to “get involved” in the campaign.

You almost have to wonder if the Government works overtime to CREATE black markets.

But Dear Leader is not smoking on TV, excuse me, internet. LOL! He was stunned and Herman just sat there with that little smile.
Now, if MSM would start taking issue with THIS ad (and play it endless times...)

That clicking you hear is all the viewers rushing to You tube to see the commercial Schiefer is talking about and why it is so offensive. Especially the younger population who don’t like to be told what to do! What am I thinking? What would they be doing watching a dinosaur on TV?
Far more people die from the drugs advertized on CBS than from smoking. Bob Schieffer is a willing fool.

Cain looked to the camera.
“Young people of America, all people, do not smoke,” he said. “It is hazardous and it’s dangerous to your health.”
“Don’t smoke. I never smoke, and I have encouraged people not to smoke,” he added.
“And it’s not a cool thing to do,” Schieffer said, PRODDING him along.
“It is not a cool thing to do,” Cain said. “That’s not what it was trying to say.” “

What if Cain refused? What’s a rich racist white liberal dem to do with an uppity black man who doesn’t know his place on the plantation? It’s simple, do what liberal whites always do when confronted with a black man who thinks for himself: get out the cell - click on contacts - start calling all the other racist dems and racist media libs - and organize a high-tech lynching.
Cain is a master of verbal Jiu-Jitsu.
Bob Schieffer’s smarmy gotcha attempt was effortlessly deflected, and Cain displayed his straight-talking good character.
By the way, would Schieffer scold any other candidate in that manner? Hmm.

But he’s making a mistake if he want’s to pick sides on the pro/anti smoking issue. Thousands of conservatives have walked into voting booths and voted to restrict smoking areas or increase cigarette taxes.
Of course he can pivot and assert the ad is about freedom rather than smoking but that’s a difficult line to find.
I hope he’s our next President and I hope he doesn’t pick a battle with the social conservative wing against the libertarian wing.
We haven't ascertained if Laz would hit it.
