Israeli political officials have been taken aback by the rocket attacks from Gaza over the past few days, considering that the deal with Hamas for the release of Gilad Shalit has not been completed. Israel is supposed to release another 550 terrorists in the coming weeks, but some MKs have begun calling for that part of the Shalit deal to be cancelled if Hamas continues to allow rocket attacks on Israel.
Attacks began last Wednesday, when a Grad Katyusha rocket was fired at Ashdod, setting off Red Color warning sirens throughout southern Israel, as far north as Rishon Lezion. The attacks intensified Saturday, when at least 20 Grad missiles, Kassam rockets, and mortar shells were fired at Israel. One rocket hit the courtyard of a school building in Ashdod, damaging several classrooms. Another rocket hit outside an apartment building in the city. At least three people were injured and were being treated at hospitals in southern Israel; about a dozen others were treated for shock. Ashdod Mayor Yechiel Lassry said that schools would be closed Sunday.
Both Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aqsa Brigades took responsibility for Saturday's attacks. The terror groups said that the attacks were just the beginning of renewed attacks against Israel.

What’s this ‘if’? Just say deal’s off.
550 would make a great human shield.
great idea
or just release them and then strafe thew convoy with helicopter gunships
Sure. We got Schalit back. What are they going to do now? Not grab any more hostages to ransom, because we went back on our word? Grab lots more hostages and have their whole little operation shut down once and for all (probably a lot harder to hide even one, now that GS has been debriefed)? Sue at the Hague for the return of Gilad?
Israel needs to line up Bulldozers on the Gaza ine and start pushing and don’t stop until they hit the sea.
“Israel needs to line up Bulldozers on the Gaza ine and start pushing and dont stop until they hit the sea.”
Bulldozers?! B-b-but that’s inhuman. Unthinkable! Treating them as if they were nothing but a bunch of Israelis? Shame on you./s
I'm sure that would violate international law, for which violations Israel would be held liable and excoriated on every front page in the world.
While Israel's enemies get away with using international law for a urinal every day of the week.
May as well hang for an ewe as a lamb.
Thanks Eleutheria5.
Strap the remaining 550 to one missile or bomb each, and send ‘em back to Gaza.
I’d announce that ten of the prisoners would be shot for every rocket that lands in Israel.
But then, I’m a barbarian, so this whole thing would be long over if I was in power in Israel.
Release the prisoners! From a helicopter, 1500 feet above Gaza City. ;-)
If you give them hang gliders, it might even be legal.
“Peace” means that Isreali’s die without retaliation or complaint.
And also give up vast tracts of land for it, and fracture our own polity for it. That’s why I call it “piece”.

Dear Sirs/Madam(oiselle)s:
We seem to have a philosophical difference as to what does and doesn’t constitute “breaking news”. I list an article as such whenever it’s: 1. presently ongoing; and 2. likely to escalate and evolve, as this story has. Since I live in Israel, I usually post articles covering events here. You, however, seem to believe that if it bleeds and happens in Israel, it’s not “breaking,” and routinely remove it.
So that I do not keep listing stories as breaking and having them removed, please clarify your criteria if it is other than I have interpreted here.
Sincerely,
Eleutheria5
