A Hawaii couple

I do but there are times where my blood sugar drops too dramatically to be brought back up to a level that takes me out of the risk range for a stroke or losing consciousness.I take it you have never been around anyone with type one diabetes?
BTW nice attack for stealing because of my health disabity.I’ve never stolen anything in my life but someone like you would let me die before allowing me to keep that from happening? You are an idiot and I hope one of your children or grand kids never have to deal with all of the issues that come with type one diabetes.
I did that once at Home Depot, forgot to pay for something. Took it back to pay for it, and they made me feel a little like a shoplifter. Oh, well, still would do it again. Integrity is something you cannot buy, it is who you are.
Can I steal that line?
Absolutely perfect!
maybe that is why she was going to the grocery store because she neeeded to stock up on food & snacks?

No, when you are in that position, you don’t need a sandwich for yourself AND your husband to stabilize your blood sugar.
All I was saying is that pregnancy is not a disease. If she had been alone, with diabetes (any flavor) and had done this, I would say I could understand. But all a preggie lady needs is an apple or a candy bar, not lunch for herself and her husband to feel better.
The store overreacted, the DHS overreacted, but pregnant is not a disorder.
She might have been the one to eat both sandwiches, I don’t know.
IIRC I think the 2 sandwiches is a mistake from the story at the blog?It was one $5 sandwich that was eaten not 2.
Or maybe they only had 50.00 and thought they could eat for free.
Just as likely as the woman needing 2 sandwiches to make her feel better.
sheesh I have forgotten things in my cart, get outside, realize it and go back in to pay.
It happens. I was in Trader Joe’s checking out with my grand-baby in the cart, my daughter in the check-out next to me with another baby and we were all talking to each other, including the checkers. We were loading the car when an employee came up to me and said I hadn’t paid for my purchase! I thought about it and realized I hadn’t scanned my card at all! Too much talking...No problem, went in and paid my bill but I was embarrassed that I could be so easily distracted. Oh well, no harm...no foul. At least nobody called the cops. jeez.
The manager overreacted. I could see making the parents pay for the sandwich, but the child should not have been sent to CPS.
I will say that I find it suspicious that BOTH adults forgot to pay for the sandwiches, but at worst, I would say that requiring them to pay for the sandwiches and telling them “You are no longer welcome in this store” is sufficient punishment for shoplifting.
The store punished the 3-yr old, that is for sure. Imagine what she has been going through! 3-yrs old! At the very most, a citation could have been written, perhaps a warning to pay and never do it again. But to arrest both parents, when only one needed to be arrested, then the child could have stayed with the other parents.
But they didn’t and they were treated like any other shoplifter.
I wonder how much more there is to this story.
Well said.
Well said!
I’ve had four children, and with two of them, I became nauseous during the first trimester if I didn’t keep my blood sugar up (with the first one, I just threw up daily for about 3 months, LOL). That meant I kept small snacks—crackers, hard candy, etc. on me at all times.
Pregnant women can be criminals, too. It doesn’t give them saint status.
But to arrest both parents, when only one needed to be arrested, then...
Which parent needed to be arrested? They are both guilty of stealing.
>>It doesnt give them saint status.<<
Amen!
The husband of course. Are you cold-hearted to where you can’t see how wrong this was.
I believe there is more to the story... this was probably not the first time they have “shopped” in this store. How do TWO people “forget” they ate chicken salad sandwiches?
