Herman Cain's rise in the polls appears to be no fluke. Unlike some other Republican presidential contenders who have flamed out fast after auditioning as the conservative antidote to Mitt Romney, Cain is still riding high atop public opinion surveys. "They said I was the flavor of the week," the Georgia businessman said at an appearance Friday on a campaign swing through Alabama. "But four weeks later the Cain campaign still tastes good!" Cain lacks the money and organization of his top-tier GOP competitors. But, so far, he's survived several high-profile campaign blunders and an onslaught of attacks on his signature 9-9-9 tax overhaul plan. And despite the sudden rise to the top tier of the GOP, Cain is still doing things his own way.

No, I mean the general.
I’m not so worried about the primaries actually.

I think a better “balance” would be to beef up his foreign policy deficits.
Cain/Bolton
How can the south be a key?? We all know it’s filled with racist tea partiers. This must be a typo.
In my South,”sorry-shiftless-no account” was akin to the “N” word —and “white trash” went right on alongside.
“Colored” and “not common” were social virtues aspired to by good blacks and whites respectively.
Often, back in the desegregating times when Boston was more violent in their dissent to busing for “racial balance” than even the most ignorant Southern redneck town, black folk wanted, even then, for the purely politically motivated racialist agitation to end so that they could provide in peace their children a means to a proper living the best they knew how.
Black folks like Cain—who never bought into the race-hustling poverty pimping of Jackson,Sharpton and today's NAALCP made their way in the new way and saw no reason to keep bitching when so much work was to be done..
Herman Cain will win South Carolina and thus the GOP nomination and again thus the Presidency because he is a true Southern Christian Conservative who grew up on the character developing threshing floors of the Old South where to both overcome the inbred injustices and to embrace the inherent love of America ripped raw makes for a grand leader.
Cain is the one Republican which would compel Karl Rove to switch parties. Not a bad pick the, but can the American people understand?
“Kennedy wing of the GOP”: Didn’t Reagan use that in reference to the JFK tax cut of 1964 (passed by LBJ) before Hatch peformed the deed over and over. Has Hatch already endorsed Romney?
SC is “open” and VA too, I believe. I would imagine that the Romney might talk Cain out of the race to become VP even before IA. The establishment people would like to cancel the whole primary process, which is skewed in their favor any way.
Newz - I can’t see Bachmann. Why is it she has never gone after Romney? As a RINO he has given her a ton of low hanging fruit to attack. But she offers no indication that she is inclined to attack Romney. That makes me suspicious of her.
I was at a work event this week, and was surprised how excited everyone was for Cain. These are Republican voters of all stripes, because I usually won’t bring up politics in these situations, but there are certain people I often have a chance to talk on the sidelines about the issues of the day.
The interest in this man is real and genuine. If he holds up, we may have an historic opportunity for clear, conservative leadership.
99.98999% of the people voting against Mitt will do so because of his Liberalism. The vast majority of voters will not care or not know about he being a Mormon.
Mitt will do badly in the South ONLY because of his arrogant Liberalism.
It is very insulting for Freepers to bring up his Mormonism as a factor, knowing darn well the opposition to Mitt is his Liberalism.
I’m liking this guy more and more. He’s defying “conventional wisdom”, running a completely new kind of campaign. He can think out of the box yet still retain solid, core principles.
We don’t have to settle for Mittens! All aboard the Cain Train!
Cain has a good chance to win Michigan and even WV. Obama will NOT win FL again. Also, it is most likely a loss for Obama in Ohio.
If Cain wins the GOP nomination, he will likely win in a landslide.
Brilliant post, very well stated. It is incredible the fools who think you “must have” political experience to be President. Those politicians for the most part of scum. They consider the Constitution as outdated and irrelevant.
Do any of you campaign bots realize how stupid that argument is?
Thanks Onyx. Gotta sleep sometime. :)
Superb post!
As for foreign policy, what the president must keep in mind for every move is-——What should be the plan of action in the best interest of United States of America.
If he/she makes all decisions using that rule, it will turn out to be a very good decision.
