Sacramento - California's chief budget officer was arrested early Friday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, Highway Patrol authorities said.
.. officers saw Department of Finance director Ana Matosantos' Acura weaving in downtown Sacramento at 12:43 a.m. and pulled her over at P and 6th streets.
Campbell said Matosantos showed signs of intoxication and the officer concluded she was drunk after conducting a field sobriety test.
Matosantos was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence .. She was cooperative with officers during the arrest, he added.
Matosantos has served as finance director under Gov. Jerry Brown since he took office in January. Matosantos held the position for the last year of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration.

Good for her. If I was in charge of overseeing California’s budget, I’d probably be shooting up heroin just to dull the pain.
Somehow I don't think she was drinking to dull the pain. These bureaucrats don't care about anyone but themselves.
No doubt she’s been doing this every night for 20 years, but now they’ve decided to enforce it.
Spending money like a drunken sailor.
It no longer strictly involves booze, it no longer involves a lot of booze.
DUI now encompasses all legal and illegal drugs and medications, including over-the-counter and beverages anybody of any age can buy at any 7-11 or Starbucks.

I know people make mistakes, but this goes to judgement. And if she is prone to bad judgement like this in her personal life, whereas she could have definitely afforded a cab on her $175,000 a year salary, she chose to put herself and others in harms way. Makes you wonder about judgement calls she might be making on the job as well.
The ought to give the whole legislature a breathalyzer test.
