I’m in college now and tbh, it is sort of the opposite, students are very very reserved in dress and speech and actions, after attending in the 90’s this is quite a surprise but in a good way.

When I was in college I had my pick of guys. I didn't have to 'put out' as my husband called it to get a date. I dumped any guy that was just after that. Of course it helped that I was often the only girl in my class.

I am encouraging my daughter to go into engineering when she gets old enough to go to college.

You forgot a couple of modifiers. It has always been "open season" -- for guys who play quarterback, look like Adonis (or at least Charles Atlas or Gregory Peck or Christian Slater or George Clooney or Fabio), who drive around in AMG's and Porsche Turbos with wads of $100 bills sticking out both pockets, and who dress like the ads in Details and GQ.
