Anti-Wall Street protesters around the country who are vowing to stand their ground against the police and politicians are also digging in against a different kind of adversary: cold weather.
-snip-
The activists also know full well that the number of demonstrators is likely to drop as the weather gets colder.

They’ll be back for the spring offensive.

Cold weather camping is fun, no snakes to worry about, which I hate and fear with a passion. Probably not a lot of snakes in the big city anyway.
It’s not yet 6:00 A.M. here in the central zone, whadda ye expect for a no coffee yet, first post of the day?

Well, you know it’s tough being a protester, what they have to endure. People messing up their meals, now the weather.

Super-insulated sleeping bags? Aren’t those made by corporations?

The Occutards didn't think this plan through, they believed the Gorebull warming crapola would keep them toasty warm all winter.

I would estimate that none of these folks have tried winter camping
To: jimbo123
Actually I'm hoping they can stick it out, all the way till November of 2012. By then they'll look even more like The Walking Dead and Herman Cain (of course he will be the nominee) can play ads of Obama supporting them.

I have to admit, I found myself chuckling at numerous points in that story. I don’t claim to be the second coming of Jerimiah Johnson, but I have been camping in late fall/early winter enough to know the basics of staying healthy and hale in cold weather. Something these clowns seem to mostly lack.
I especially liked the part about igloos - LOL!!!

If the media would stop giving them wall to wall coverage, they’d disperse a lot sooner. Just like ignoring a kid pitching a fit, works the same way.

Community Board Asks "Occupy Wall Street" Protesters To Clean Up, Quiet Down NY-1 News ^ | Oct 20, 2011 | Michael Herzenberg This has been a nightmare, said Brian Summers, who lives near Zuccotti Park.
Summers said those trying to force corporations to become better corporate citizens should learn to be better citizens themselves.
It makes us feel horrible. We work down here, we live down here, said Summers.
Drums are played each and every day. The noise registers as 117 on a decibel meter.
According to the federal government, regular exposure to 110 decibels can lead to permanent hearing loss.
From blocks away, it might not be physically harmful, but neighbors say it's damaging lives.
We support the message, and a lot of residents do, but they also want to have a good night sleep, said Manhattan City Councilmember Margaret Chin.
Local officials have been swamped with neighborhood complaints.
That's why they invited protesters to hear them firsthand at a Community Board 1 meeting Thursday.
Besides the noise problem, residents say protesters are pouring urine in the streets.
Our neighbors do not urinate and defecate in the street. These occupiers need to vacate our neighborhood, said one resident.
