Two of his Republican rivals on Thursday criticized Rick Perry, who has dropped hints he may skip some of the upcoming presidential debates.
In a question-and answer-session with reporters following an education forum in New York City, former Sen. Rick Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich both suggested it is a sign of weakness for Perry to take a pass on some future debates. At least 10 have been scheduled between now and the end of January.
"I'd never skip a debate. I'd never skip the opportunity to let the American public know what I think about these issues," Santorum said.
"I'm all about digging deeper and people getting to know the candidates."

Thank you GG. Interesting that I am being chided for saying they ‘worship’ Perry while what we get from the Perry crowd is, as you put it, stupid.
I agree TC. I do believe that Perry is well-liked in Texas. But he has attempted to take his dog & pony show national and it’s just not selling.
It is a good one. And if you look at my posting history you will see it has been some time since I last used it. Conversely, to post in a Perry thread one must scroll past the Perry worship committee's pin-ups of Governor Hairdo.
Some politicians have a record and public presence that is so flawed they can not merely run from it verbally, they are forced to run physically as well. Perry is one of those.

People would think way more of Perry if he debated badly, than didn’t debate at all. We like our leaders to have courage.
He can forget my vote in the 2014 guberatorial contest now.
Perry is well liked by some in Texas, but a lot of us have worked Damn hard to defeat the TTC mess, reign in the costly pandering to illegals that brings in most of our crime, and keep him from making various crony capitalism deals of which Gardasil was only one.
We are tired of him, but since the executive branch is split in power between the governor and the lieutenant governor (who runs on a separate ticket) it is harder to attract a decent candidate than one might think.
Not all, but there are some Perry supporters that are batship crazy..reflects poorly on their candidate. A good debate should not cause some of the awful things some say. ..We don’t have to worry about Romneys supporters and that is a plus...:O)

Perry if you can’t win a debate in your own party, then how do you expect to influence a nation or a congress????
One person’s ill advised comment gives you carte blanche to attack Perry supporter with just plain nastiness. Including me though I never said anything nasty to you.
I don’t know who you support but that attitude will drive people away in droves.
What I have observed is the level of hatred for Perry among the anti-Perry contingent here.
There is no need for nastiness on either side.
You have just destroyed what scant amount of credibility you may have had. Perry's people do worship the man. If you don't like reading about it then feel free to skip over and not respond to any or all of my posts, I really don't give a damn.

I've got a long way to go before I come even close to the vile nature of the comments we see regularly from the Perry worshipers. And to be honest, it's not really in me to go that low. If some don't like the level of discourse the Perry worshipers have created they are free to take it up with their fellow Perry worshiper or they can just ignore the thread. Either way, I really don't give a hoot.
