Rupert Murdoch must have imagined Steve Jobs would be a feisty dinner guest. Even still, the News Corp. chairman couldn't have foreseen that, in one night at the mogul's Carmel, California ranch, Jobs would call his tech people incompetent, get a guy fired, and say that Fox News was literally destroying the world.
Walter Isaacson's new biography of the Apple co-founder says Jobs railed against the conservative news channel and tried to convince Murdoch to shut it down. His comments came at the 2010 iteration of News Corp.'s annual management retreat. Isaacson writes:
In return for speaking at the retreat, Jobs got Murdoch to hear him out on Fox News, which he believed was destructive, harmful to the nation, and a blot on Murdoch's reputation. "You're blowing it with Fox News," Jobs told him over dinner. "The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is conservative-destructive, and you've cast your lot with the destructive people. Fox has become a destructive force in our society. You can be better, and this is going to be your legacy if you're not careful." Jobs said he thought Murdoch did not really like how far Fox has gone. "Rupert's a builder, not a tearer-downer," he said...

Jobs was a closed shop person.
He also said he could will his cancer away.
And that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of his "character."
Believe Planned Parenthood was Buffet’s ‘charity’; and Gates and Buffet, duly impressed - by each other.
Isaacson was the president of CNN NEWS for a very short and unsuccessful stint. Given that Fox ate his lunch, I might be dubious about this account, given that Jobs isn’t around to proof the galleys. Just sayin’.
I think the reaction here from some actually vindicates you....don’t apologize...they are saying about Gates exactly what they accuse you about doing about Jobs
I knew way back that Jobs denied his child including attempting to thwart a paternity suit by lying he was sterile.
Innovative yes...but that’s it....even he didn’t invent GUI though he did make nifty overpriced stuff with good graphics for folks who can stand going in the OWS crowd at a Mac store...personally I’d rather lick the toilet seat at Whole Foods
Sorry Rush and Mcbots here...I avoid the loonies...there is a reason 99% of Mac users are lefties and it’s all Hollywood ever show...the premier liberal status symbol like a Prius with COEXIST bumper sticker...they own and know Apple is them..Jobs included
Denying your spawn is unforgivable especially if you were adopted as Jobs was.
“Denying your spawn is unforgivable...”

The best part of an excellent post.
Where can I invest in the Sinaloa Cartel pray tell?
tks...I expect to be lumped in with Satan, John Wayne Gacey and Pee Wee Herman any minute
My grandfather was a Minister of the Church of God. He served his ministry for over 60 years. In all the years that I had with him I never once saw him drink alcohol, smoke (anything), nor heard him curse. He was married twice only because his first wife died. His second wife, my grandmother, and he were married more than 50 years, and he was deeply in love with her the entire time. He died in 1984 of cancer. Somehow I doubt that cancer is a personality disease born out of Hell.
But I digress - Jobs came from a completely different and humanistic world.
Not so sure about that, if you ever met Mafioso, well, lets just say, "investing" in their business ventures would be like investing in enron, only with enron being run by a bunch of semiliterate uneducated idiots. Contraire to what the movies and TV shows portray, Organized crime lords, aka mafia folks, do not have the kinds of financial means and support that they are made out to be. They do have hollywood though.
The mafia, is a like a giant pyramid scheme, except, they kill you, and each member kills others, because the need for money to kick up to the top is so great. They run every scam they can think of under the sun, and need to do so constantly (aka generate a return), and as you can see, they fail enough, that they get killed. I've known numerous folks who were either in, or tied to organized crime over the years, these are not people you would trust to buy a cup of coffee at McDonalds.
The asshole on the left achieved much better results from his efforts than did the asshole on the right. Jobs owns Gates in every way imaginable.
Personally I have never been able to justify the big price difference between the Apple and Microsoft product.
I am getting a little tired of this post mortem idolatry of Steve Jobs.
The guy made losers/liberals believe they are important for paying out the nose for overpriced Apple products. It's cool, and it helped them be cool in their circle of liberal friends.
If you don't idolize the guy you risk being labeled as uncool.
But hey. Ol' Bill means well, right?
"...The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, with assets of $29 billion as of 2005, has focused on the population side of the problem in the past, sending billions of dollars in grants to such pro-abortion groups as Planned Parenthood; Population Action International, Population Services International, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, and the Population Resource Center. Gates has also financed such organizations as the [Soros supported] Tides Center, the Tides Foundation, the National Council of La Raza, and has supported a gun control initiative in Washington state..."
Most liberals just love to hear what a "bright and shining example of humanity" Bill Gates is because of the billions of dollars he has donated. Most liberals don't have the wherewithal, energy or mental acuity to scratch below the surface on ANY issue, but if they did on this issue, they would get on their liberal knees and sing hosannas to Bill and Melinda Gates.
But the hate of Steve Jobs by some people, including many conservatives, trumps all. Personally, I wish Bill Gates had BURNED his damned bloody money instead of doing the heavy living for the like of the Tides Foundation, La Raza and the like.
But hey. Bill Gates is a good guy doing the work that Obama and his ilk just can't accomplish because selfish, lousy conservatives in and out of government are in the way of Uncle Sam having an open checkbook. Bill can just GIVE all his money to causes we absolutely detest, and we just love him for that, don't we?
I just wonder how much of those lovely billions of dollars donated by that "bright and shining example of humanity" ended up allowing this display of "bright and shining humanity" that I ran into during one of the counter-protests I participated in down in Washington?
I always wondered...who paid the money to allow the closure of the Memorial Bridge across the Potomac to Arlington National Cemetery (where this picture was taken)? Who paid for the porta-potties the liberals set up? Who paid for the busses to bring this liberal scum to protest outside Arlington? Who paid for the signs they carried?
I wonder...who? Who paid for all that? Hmm. What "bright and shining example of humanity" made all that possible? I am sure it all came from $5 donations in cans from mom's and pop's in front of supermarkets all across America, right?
Right?
Nothing personal here, Skydancer, and I mean that. I have read many of your posts over the years, and have found them to be thoughtful and agreeable to my conservative side. But this isn't one of them. That Steve Jobs was a wretch of a human in many aspects of his life and raised arrogance to an art form is a debatable point that you can make and win.
But please find some other example as a contrast to Steve Jobs, because I don't accept Bill and Melinda Gates as the appropriate contrast.
Just as money is not the root of all evil, it is the love of money that is, it is not the making of money that is evil, it is what you do with your money that is.
See my post at #57. If there were more "greedy and selfish" business people and celebrities like Steve Jobs and fewer "wonderful philanthropists" like Bill Gates, it might make the liberal causes we detest less capable.
I knew this stuff before Jobs died. I always knew he was a leftist POS.
I always tell people who disagree with me -”If you don’t like what I say or do, tough. Deal with it”
