Insider's Insights on the Perry Shake-up (Anita calling the shots)
The New Republic ^ | 10-25-11 | Alec MacGillis

Posted on 10/26/2011 2:20:33 PM PDT by NoMitt

Running for president would be different. "I don't think it'll be seamless," cautioned Bill Miller, a veteran Austin political consultant who has worked for both parties and counts Perry as a friend. And no, it has not been seamless. In fact, it's been coming apart at the seams, which is why Perry has now brought in a whole new set of advisers, in addition to his standard team, led by Joe Allbaugh, who served as the day-to-day manager of George W. Bush's campaigns, alongside the rest of Bush's "iron triangle," the big-picture guy Karl Rove, and Bush's personal guardian, Karen Hughes. I asked Miller how to read the shake-up. Some of his observations:

.....

3. The move is further proof of the sway of Anita Perry. She helped persuade Perry to run, and she earlier played a key role in getting him to issue the controversial HPV vaccine mandate. "This is Anita-driven, not Rick-driven. Anita is the one who said, 'We've got to make changes.'"

Kathleen Shanahan, a Tampa businesswoman who was chief of staff for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and three other top Republicans have signed on to co-chair Herman Cain’s campaign in the Sunshine State.

Newsmax today.

No, your pathetic, and so is Perry. The new team is led by Joe Allbaugh, and if you think Rove, Karen Hughes, the Bushs (including Jeb), won't have input you're delusional. Read the entire sentence. If anyone has wanted proof that Perry's a RINO, this is it. Including this little tidbit from the article:

1. For Perry to bring in Allbaugh suggests that the Bush-Perry feud has been overstated. "This puts to rest the idea that Bush and Perry were at odds. Allbaugh wouldn't do it if there were true bad blood."

Your candidate's now showing his true colors and you're stuck with it.

ping to many flat out lies. Those of you on the Cain train better be careful before you join in on this.

This is straight out of the Romney camp. His final words "GO Herman!" Think about it. Wow.

You are right. This article DOES NOT say that Karl Rove has joined Perry's team - but some of these posters are jumping on it like flies on $hit - and I GUARANTEE we will see this falsehood uttered on other threads on this site.

Is it not enough that these people's candidate is ahead in the polls? Why would they still have to constantly jump on another candidate that is lower in the polls? All of this energy expended on a "third tier candidate" has me shaking my head. It's just not logical.

Allbaugh’s there, you can bet Rove is having his say, as is Karen Hughes, the Bushs as well. This is a Texas compassionate conservative campaign all over again. Perry, the former democrat, who Rove brought into the GOP, who’s soft on immigration, and who thinks that we who are against illegal immigration are heartless, is showing his true colors.

My guess is, he’s tried to run a campaign outside the Texas GOP establishment because he knows the Tea Party won’t buy it well, but he’s flopped and now has to get serious and bring in the people he likely wanted to begin with.

Some of these folks hate Perry so much that they take the words of the New Republic and verified Journo-Lister Alec McGillis’ lies as truth.

Sad to see.

Apparently you missed when I called Romney out on flipping on Kasich’s Ohio situation and have repeatedly said I refuse to pull the lever for Romney in a primary or general election.

I support conservatives. Not illegal alien loving dunces who can’t think for themselves and hire Bush RINO cronies to run his campaign.

Now we know why Rove has come out against Herman Cain. He's not the Fox pundit anymore, he's part of the Perry camp

bald faced lie from you and a baseless claim from the article.

I will be holding on to this and blasting it far and wide

Wonderful and overdue! Rick is a presence with a wonderful personality who has been ill served for a national run and professionals with brains have arrived. FINALLY. I am very excited to see Rick shine, shove the debates and go sell an already proved path to recovery and prosperity. After all, this was thought at one time to be about JOBS killing regulation, taxation and fiscal castration. Perry has killed all three pretty dang well, under fire and against all odds. He has earned the White House if proven and delivered evidence counts for anything. Perry will be coming atcha, after all. I am so excited and happy!

I give the New Republic about as much credibility as I do the New York Times or the Washington Post.

It's funny to watch some FReepers fall all over these liberal publications as if they're gospel.

What's next...Mother Jones?

This is good for all to see.

Yep, it is. Now I see why Rove has been all over Cain this past week. You can argue all you want, but it's obvious. The Perry campaign is just another Texas RINO two-step with Anita leading the way. Perry can't even run his own campaign.

You all have entirely flunked the reading of the article. Joe Albaugh, singularly, worked the Bush campaign. Rove and Hughes are clearly in the Romney camp where they will remain, and Allbaugh was associated with them only in the Bush campaign. The point was well made that Allbaugh working with Perry indicates that the bad blood between the Bushies and Perry does not include Allbaugh, and therefore is not so severe as otherwise touted. However, though evidence is not your strong suit, it is clear that the Bushies are not fans of Rick Perry, so pursuing the delusion and lying that Rove is on board highlights your dullness of the facts.

Newsmax is in the tank for romney so what are you trying to prove?
And Shanahan, though a staunch Conservative is, and will stay, on his FLA team. She is not on his national team.

As promised, Cain’s Florida team includes ‘seasoned’ political pros
by George Bennett | October 25th, 2011

Cain
Former Jeb Bush operatives Kathleen Shanahan and Arlene DiBenigno and veteran Tampa GOP media consultant Adam Goodman will be part of Herman Cain’s long-awaited campaign team in Florida.

An official announcement is expected later today, but details were reported this morning by The St. Petersburg Times and confirmed to PostOnPolitics by state Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood, an early Cain endorser who’ll be one of four state co-chairs for Cain.

The other co-chairs will be Shanahan, former St. Petersburg mayor Rick Baker and former state Sen. Carey Baker, R-Eustis.

Cain, whose Sept. 24 victory in a Republican Party of Florida straw poll propelled him into the top tier of GOP presidential candidates, has so far been relying on a network of volunteers in the crucial Sunshine State. But Plakon last week promised that the campaign would be adding “serious, seasoned people who have run significant campaigns.”

Others on Cain’s Florida team include Hillsborough County GOP Chairwoman Deborah Cox-Roush and Orlando activist “Typhoon Lou” Marin, who’s been heading the volunteer Florida4Cain organization.

My point is that political operatives jump from team to team all day long and twice on Sundays.

For a post like this to even exist on Free Republic is pathetic.

Alec MacGillis? Come on and a clear hit piece? Posted by a 2 day member of Free Republic?
