Neither actually. She entered Stanford and was going to major in chemistry in preparation for medical school but she switched majors to history early on. She never attended any medical school, but she did get a masters in Public Health from Columbia. That could be where the stories started.
I think expected to to be automagically be crowned to the ruling class because of her last name.
Don’t recall exactly what happened, don’t think she ever got momentum outside of NYC. Vaugely recall her getting grief about not knowing anything about Western NY (like that Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse are actually a part of the State).
