Just a precis: Drudge has a link to inforwars dot com's article on intellistreets, a hi tech surveillance system installed in streetlights. The assertion is that homeland security is paying to have these installed on city streets. There is also a link to the company website: http://www.intellistreets.com/Videos/English/IntelliStreetsEnglish.html

My concern, beside the obvious one of possibly overbearing government snooping, is where does the money come from? Deficit spending no doubt. And where does the authority come from? I, to paraphrase someone else, cannot undertake to lay my finger upon that article of the Constitution that authorizes this sort of thing - other than the fact it is given plausible color by the twisting of things in the way bureacrats do when they have an agenda.

The government must need revenue from those that don't sort their trash or park over 72 hours.
Certainly they won't be used to catch or deport illegal aliens, their votes are too valuable.

Big Bro and Big Sis will be in your bedroom next or are they there already? These wannabe dictators want to be in charge of you 24/7; cradle to grave. Kiss your now limited freedom goodbye.

They are at intersections on the interstates also. I was changing interstates and had a surprise flash. It had to be a camera taking a picture.

cameras are one thing
a laser focused on glass can ‘hear’ everything inside
a laser could easily be placed within these ‘street lights’

Big Bro and Big Sis will be in your bedroom next or are they there already?I have a Smart Grid meter so they are in every room, they even watch me from my big screen TV.
Come January 1, they are going to turn it off because it is larger than 60 inches. All enemies of green will be treated thus.

Over the past few years when they called a time out and you went to the fridge to grab another beer while IBM ran one of their “Let’s Build a Smarter Planet” ads...
.....THIS is what they were talking about.

Make sure to use an air rifle. A lot of these cities also have gunshot detectors in their surveillance equip.
