Wow, I remember that guy!

I was in the fourth grade back in 1972 when McGovern was running against Richard Nixon. Our schoolteacher had the class vote on Election Day morning. When the votes were counted, McGovern won by something like 27-3 and I remember the teacher seeming really annoyed that three of her pupils would write down Richard Nixon.

Good thing our parents were smarter than us - at least that go-around.

That's funny. I'm in MA just like you. I was in 7th grade at the time, and my teacher had us vote. I was the only one in the class to vote for Nixon.

MA really is a unique place. 49-state blowout for Nixon was approaching, and the residents of MA just didn't see it coming.
