Look for an announcement soon about some top-tier political talent joining Herman Cain's Florida campaign team. Statewide chairs: Former St. Petersburg Mayor (and Mitt Romney supporter) Rick Baker; former State Sen. (and expected Rick Perry supporter) Carey Baker; former Jeb Bush chief Kathleen Shanahan; state Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood.
Tampa-based media consultant Adam Goodman is a senior strategist and media adviser and Arlene DiBenigno, a veteran of Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist, and Rick Scott campaigns, is another senior strategist.
Deborah Cox-Roush, former state GOP vice chairwoman and Hillsborough County Republican chairwoman - she resigned as county chair today - is director of county chairs, and Kamilah Prince is director of coalitions. Lou Marin is a director of flat tax and tea party supporters and Barbara Haselden direcor of 9/12 patriots. Nancy Hayes is volunteer coordinator.
"We believe that Herman Cain's momentum from his win at the state convention last month is just a harbinger of things to come," said Goodman, one of Florida's most sought-after political pros, who cited recent Florida and national polls showing Cain in a neck and neck race with Romney. "This is not like people are bummed out about Romney, they're just incredibly enthusiastic about Herman...He has the message and the sustainability to win."

I don’t know the specific ideology of these people, but by looking at their past history, they look like a rag tag group of political hacks with no solid Conservative ideology in search of a paycheck.

By his own admission, Cain has absolutely no ground game in IA or NH. Maybe some focus should be put there first.

Of course, one should not put all their eggs in the Florida basket either like Rudi Giuliani did.

All I see in the article so far are former Romney, Bush and Christ supporters. This stands out. Not really a ringing endorsement in my book. You have a soft spot for these RINO’s?
PA doesn’t matter squat for Primary elections. Ours is so late it generally falls three days before the Convention.
Why?
Iowa has few delegates, and only 50% of the time does the GOP winner go on to get the nomination. It really is meaningless for the GOP (it is a great predictor for Democrats, though).
New Hampshire’s record isn’t much better. McCain won in 2000, Buchannan in 1996. Plus, Romney is pouring money into New Hampshire.
Cain just needs a good showing in these states, and I think he’ll do that if leading in the national polls.
Cain’s breakout should come in Florida and Carolina.

You are totally right in the importance of NH and IA in a normal cycle, but things are so volatile right now that a big win somewhere early would get the momentum started.
Perry is still alive and Newt is slowly gaining steam. And let’s not forget Mittens. Any one of these dudes could do something surprising and lock this thing up right away. GOP Primary voters generally coalesce around the best shot. I can’t remember another GOP Primary election where things drug out like the Rats in ‘08.
What are you babbling about? Where have I lied about anything here at FR. If you are going to throw out those charges, you had better back them up.

Naturally, the anti-Cain crunchers jump on board and scream, “You see! You see!” I’ll be sure to send them a box of party hats, red clown noses, and kazoos.
Presidential campaigns entail a great deal of professional work. Just like it should matter not what the politics are of the guy who changes the oil in your car, there are numerous important campaign staff positions that have no involvement in policy formation. What is important here is that Mr. Cain have competent, experienced professionals helping to run his statewide operations in numerous key states.
Crist, not Christ. Big difference.
And Perry hired some political hacks from other RINO’s too, including Dubya. Consultants are hired for their expertise, not ideology. If they undermine the candidate’s positions they can always be fired.
