Republican presidential candidate Herman Cains campaign says its overnight viral sensation is no joke.
The quirky YouTube video showing chief of staff Mark Block taking a drag on a cigarette while asking supporters to get involved in the campaign is for real.
It was meant to tell supporters about the campaign, campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon told The Daily Caller in an email.
It was a video with an edge as the Chief of Staff says, just Block being Block, Gordon told TheDC.

Not liking that video. It came off as grungy.
Exactly! Don’t know how many people still smoke in America but I’ll tell ya, Cain should get their votes! LOL.......alas Hub and I had to quit in January. Our lungs and insurance premiums were instrumental in the decision. I’d give my right eye for a nice, long smoke to this day.....(well, maybe not an eye...maybe a foot.....:)).
Google analytics only processes every few hours. Youtube counters use the same system and do not update realtime.
Additionally there is an algorithm that filters out multiple views from a single PC to avoid artificially inflated numbers and advertising/PPC scamming.
Was the cig picture “photoshopped?” If so, shame on Cane. If it was not, then what’s the big deal ... this is what it is. And we all know “this is what it is!”
I agree with you Uri’el-2012. Although I broke the habit over twenty years ago, I never saw fit to persecute anyone about that habit. In fact, I always regarded all of the anti-tobacco weeping and ranting as nothing more than another artifact of America’s pussification. I’m now seventy-five and during my working years noted that many of the tobacco users were among the more productive people that I knew. Don’t have any notion why that was - just an observation.
“Saw it....dont like Cains smile....not one bit!!!”
I liked his smile. I took it as a challenging “in your face, I am coming to get you” look. Cain is not the least bit intimidated by Obama and it shows. It was a look of confidence and it suggests that he is looking forward to the fight.
The rest of the commercial was stupid.
That being said, “IF” Cain makes it to the White House, he would be 200% better than what we presently have and he would be a breath of fresh air.
Of course, other than Romney, Captain Kangaroo would be a breath of fresh air. LOL
I think it is brilliant.
The message is “stop the PC cr@p, stop the micromanagement of everyone’s lives. It is none of the government’s business what we do”.
Cain has flipped the bird to DC. Executive, Congress and agencies.
Stay out of our lives.
Not photoshopped - Mark Block is a chain smoker from what I hear. I met him once outside an event, and he was smoking.
JD Gordon confirmed that this was a video sent to supporters
Thank you!
I am not offended by smokers either davishfh. I’ve been there, done that and enjoyed every minute of it. For those lucky enough (like a good friend of mine) to not have any negative health problems due to smoking I say more power to them....enjoy!
This ad was terrific!!! Masterful thought behind it!!! Brought out to be viewed on the internet where it would get limited exposure, it in fact, now is getting great play across the internet, and more importantly, across TV land. The dummies on “Morning Joe”, led by Mica, the brainless fell for it, hook, line and sinker!!! Fox news also played it a bit later. Here is a campagn, with limited financial resources, posts this tube ad on the internet, and because of its content it zooms onto the big screen free of charge!!! Does the ad work!!! It sure does. It mocks political correctness, touts Freedom and Independence, and it sends a clear signal, that “We the people, the common people do matter more then the elite egotists of the Media, Democrat and Republican Party leadership establishment!!! And.....the Cain smile at the end is really the masterpiece!!! For it says, hey Obama, hey Romney, hey Democrat Party establishment, hey Republican Party establishment, pay heed to the elections of 2010!!! If think they were historic wait until you see what the people of the USA, United in cause and purpose, all colors and religions, do to you failures come November, 2012!!! Great Ad!!! The second American revolution has begun in earnest led by Mr. Herman Cain!!! God bless you, sir!!!
Cain may be reaching out to
real libertarians not PaulBots.
Saw it also. It was beyond bizarre. What was that all about?
And the Cain smile was creepy to say the least.
More and more evidence comes up about the Not Ready for Prime Time candidate.
P.S. My worry about it has nothing to do with being anti-smoking. I am not. I don’t smoke but my husband does and I’m sick of the way smokers are treated, while people with other equally undesirable vices are given a pass.
But why blow smoke in our face in an ad? Unless it’s because Cain has been blowing smoke up another body part for a couple of months.
There are people on this site who would defend a Cain ad if he decided to moon us on an ad.
He’s running for president; it’s not grown up and it’s not funny.
Amen !I heard about it on the John Batchelor show last night.
Love it!
That homely little anchor girl on MSNBC this morning was absolutely apoplectic about this ad! I thought she was going to have a heart attack!
Good job, Cain Campaign!!
“Saw it....dont like Cains smile....not one bit!!!”
Then you must not have seen any of his ads, because he ends almost all of them that way.
