Conelrad tests are nothing new. Same thing.

I don’t know but it wouldn’t surprise me much if the Birchers got this same paranoia when Truman originally instituted the system. If this illustrates the mindset of the The Maine Tea Party, they appear to be equally psycho.

So, let me get this right. Because The John Birch Society, and some Maine Tea Party folks desire a federal government that adheres to Constitutional mandates of powers limited and defined, in your mind that is the appearance of psychotic behavior?

The Conelrad System was implemented by President Truman in 1951 and became the Emergency Broadcast System sometime in the early 60's.

I don't think I'll get out the tinfoil. I've seen these tests since I was a child in the Cold War. They have now expanded it for local emergencies like severe weather.

Is conelrad still in existence? The old 640 or 1240 on the AM dial radio network for Civil Defense is that still in service?
