National Public Radio’s Michele Norris, who co-hosts All Things Considered, is stepping down “temporarily” from her post as her husband works to re-elect President Barack Obama.

Norris’ husband, Broderick Johnson, worked for Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign, and for Obama’s 2008 White House bid. Norris did not step down in 2008, but did recuse herself from political coverage in 2004.

Johnson will be a “senior adviser” for the Obama 2012 campaign, according to an internal message Norris sent her colleagues.

And I am tall dark and handsome and wear a size 12 shoe.
Yeah right.

I know what this broad can do on her down time to make extra money. She can call up insomniacs and tell them the news until they fall asleep. All Things Considered is the biggest snoozefest with these monotone bozos. You can't help but drift off like a baby.

it would be a good Tea Party commerical - Freedom Works are you listening - to show the revolving door of lobbyists and media people working for DemocRATS. How they go in and out of government always learning to spin and sell and make money form the people, who don’t know anything about the way the systems has been hijacked.

Obama Campaign Hires Keystone XL Pipeline Lobbyist Broderick Johnson

October 24, 2011. The judgment and integrity of President Obama’s reelection campaign were called into question today after it hired a prominent lobbyist for the proposed Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline into a high-ranking campaign position.

Politico reported today that Broderick Johnson, who was on the Keystone XL account at Bryan Cave LLP, has been hired to serve as a senior political advisor for the campaign and that he “will serve as a national surrogate for the campaign and [its] representative in meetings with key leaders, communities and organizations.”

Kim Huynh, dirty fuels campaigner at Friends of the Earth, said the hiring violates President Obama’s 2008 campaign pledge to limit lobbyist influence and raises concerns about such influence within the campaign.

“President Obama ran for office in 2008 promising that the days of lobbyists setting the agenda in Washington were over, yet now he’s hired a top oil pipeline lobbyist into his campaign,” Huynh said. “This is a deeply troubling development. A lobbyist who has taken corporate cash to shill for this dirty and dangerous pipeline now has even more opportunity to whisper into the president’s ear.”

As the DeSmogBlog has reported, Johnson is part of a web of pipeline lobbyists with ties to Secretary of State Clinton and the White House who have been hired by pipeline proponents. Their hiring is part of a growing pipeline influence scandal surrounding the State Department’s Keystone XL review. Emails between department employees and TransCanada lobbyist Paul Elliott, Wikileaked memos, public remarks, disclosure forms and other documents provide clear evidence that the department’s review of the proposed pipeline has been corrupted by bias, lobbyist influence and conflicts of interest.

Bryan Cave LLP reported earnings of $1.08 million between 2009-2011 lobbying on behalf of TransCanada, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Bryan Cave staff reported lobbying the State Department directly about the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Broderick Johnson, a former Bryan Cave LLP lobbyist registered on the Keystone XL account, reported lobbying President Obama’s legislative affairs staff in 2010 (pdf), a post he’s familiar with, having served in the Clinton administration in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs from 1998-2000. He was named deputy assistant to the president and House liaison, acting as the Clinton administration’s primary advocate before the U.S. House of Representatives in 1999 and 2000.

With that precedent, I think NPR’s just going to have to “go dark” (in the Broadway sense) until after the election. How many of NPR’s staff aren’t in the tank for Obama?

But of course she can divorce herself from her politics and then come back to being a journalist. At least while she’s waiting for her “kick-back.”

All Things Considered

Just curious. Did they ever consider that the supposed birth certificate proffered by Barack Hussein Obama might be a fraud or forgery? Or whether the Israelis might have a right to respond with deadly force to missiles fired by people who openly wish them dead into Israeli territory. (Territory not even disputed by the UN)

I think this is fine. Everyone has a right to their own political views, and she’s done the right thing by stepping aside.

If she hadn’t, you-all would be upset - you can’t have it both ways. Spouses should not be denied the ability to work - just as we’d say if the shoe were on the other foot.

Not a coincidence.

Here on display is a hasty last minute attempt by dems to stack up some high visiblity pretend “ethical” recusals.

Dems and dem enablers don’t do these things out of ethical motivation. They do things as political stunts.

When the public looks to the recent leftist Obamacare pusher Justice to recuse herself on the Obamacare Case, the Commie Dems will need sloppy paste up examples, in order to bolster a counter-argument for making a tortured appeal to remove Supreme Thomas, because his wife works for the Heritage Foundation.
