It's a wine lover's nightmare - thousands of bottles of the world's finest grape juice crash on the floor, leading to a tsunami of undrinkable vino.
At Superior Discount Liquors in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, that disastrous scenario really did happen.
A 78ft long shelving unit suddenly becoming detached from its anchoring wall.
Standing four shelves high, a total of 6,810 bottles of wine and champagne smashed on the floor.
The liquor turned into a sea of red and broken glass. Managers at the store are stumped as to why or how it happened, but did admit the shelves are 31 years old.
Video at source.

” Covered by insurance? “
According to the article, it was covered by wine and broken glass...

WHY???
Well the article said that the fasteners came away from the wall. If it wasn’t sabotage, it could have been poor fasteners. About 30 yers ago we had a spate of bogus bolts on the market around the world that showed up in the automotive and aircraft industries. Maybe some of them made their way to Sheboygan and were used on these shelves. It doesn’t look like the shelves collapsed; it looks more like the bolts pulled away from the walls — or broke.

Six thousand eight hundred and nine bottles of wine on the shelf,
Six thousand eight hundred and nine bottles of wine.
Take one down, pass it around,
Six thousand eight hundred and eight bottles of wine on the shelf.
This could be a long thread.

Even today’s ‘winos’ can’t hold a candle to winos in my day.
A little thing like glass etc wouldn’t have stopped them.
Even THEY would scoff at todays ‘wine in a box’ although they would have gotten over it quickly enough to consume the contents...

If could figure out how to do it on my droid I’d post a link to the scene in Animal House where Bluto cries over the spilled booze.

I always loved the SNL skit where Dan and the boys were
high brow winos.
Say Mister, how about loaning me 25 dollars for a bottle
of bojulay?
