Funny...I JUST read that chapter in Leviticus last night in my own personal devotional reading.
Who would have thought it would have come up on FR this morning! LOL.

I don’t object to either a camel or a horse as food, but anymore I worry about diseases animals carry. I also wonder at eating animals no one else wants. I mean that’s like taking the worst of herd for food.

I used to eat horsemeat sashimi all the time when I lived in Japan. It was delicious. The yakitori house I ate it at served it very cold, almost frozen, with soy and ginger. I had it once at room temperature somewhere else. Didn’t care for it that way. It was too rich. Never had it cooked.

Moose however is, but nobody has found a good way to properly process one. Not easy to walk up to a wild moose!
The meat is awsome by the way...

Very little horsemeat was ever for human consumption; nearly all of the horsemeat that used to be processed in the US was for pet food (dog and cat food).

That is not my understanding, given the way the price of horsemeat intended for human consumption behaved after the U.S. slaughterhouses were closed.
