Time magazine columnist and CNN host Fareed Zakaria says Republican presidential candidate Herman Cains 9-9-9 tax reform plan is sloppy and, in parts, bizarre.
So he offered his own version of a tax reform plan in his weekly column in Time. In it, Zakaria argues that Americans should give the federal government half of what they inherit.
I would enact a 50 percent inheritance tax, because nothing is more un-American than an inherited elite that perpetuates itself, Zakaria wrote for the magazine.

Ok so how about the group of most of us who are not from the elite group and might get a small amount from our families...and what does this jerk think should happen, no trusts, so none of our kids or nieces etc should inherit our silver flatware or our grandmother’s linen table cloth or heaven forbid our diamond wedding ring..oh no it must be sold off so this group of Socialist bastards can have something they never worked for..A pox on socialists, commies and marxists...
Remember when Clinton taxed not only social security but he also went back and taxed the dead during his first term?
I inherited a passle of unpaid bills from both my Mother & my Father. I also paid for my father’s funeral-even tho I have 3 brothers.
Will I be allowed to COLLECT 1/2 of those costs?????
If you really give a sh!t about what some dumbass taking head on CNN thinks about our tax system, raise your hand...
Uh-huh, that’s what I thought.
Cain’s proposal has been vetted by Arthur Laffer. Who has vetted yours Zakaria?
Super low taxes, hard workers, natural resources, cheap land. We still have all those things, except the low taxes.
The Hermanator sees all this. This is his message.
What this CNN towel head is doing on airport TVs lecturing me about America is beyond me... it is a sign our immigration policy needs to reverse itself.
Whatever laws brought this arrogant communist dumbass to our shores, needs rescinded but quick.
Another leftist racist kook who knows this will affect whites the most.
Fareed can rot in Hell!! People work for their money..death tax is BS..down with the dems!!! Ocuppy a sane position..
Right on.
I hope one day these b@st@rds get what they want. And I hope the stupid burns so hot it destroys them.
...so if I die, I owe the government half?
What twisted logic creates that idea?
It´s not fair to call them social democrats: Zakaria and other MSM liberals are beyond socialism. No civilized country has a 50 percent rate. Even Sweden abolished the inheritance tax six years ago.
Funny how the left words things. FZ doesn’t think people should ‘give’ anything. He thinks people’s wealth should be confiscated by the govt and given to those who haven’t earned it.
The question raised by this idea is never answered.
Once people know the fruits of their labor will be confiscated, will they keep working?
This bozo was born in India in 1964. He knows nothing of what it is to be American. He’s an alien, same as the Resident of the Whtie House.
Yes it is 55% once you pass a small base amount for a married couple. Easy if you own a nice home with possessions and have retirement savings. That's why we give the maximum amount allowable under law each year to our adult children and grandchildren. We would rather give it to them while alive, than have the government steal over half after we die. We've been doing this ever since we set up living trusts and our lawyer gave us the bad news about the government's 55% wealth redistribution policy.
Hey Fareed...
Don’t EVEN stand there and tell US what is “American” vs “Un-American”.
Socialism is about as UNAMERICAN as you can get.
Go back to whatever third world craphole you were born in, you POS.
Geez, I really can’t stand these buttwipes coming here and telling us what need to do.
Those darn property rights....that’s so unamerican!?
I admire your quest for knowledge.
Why these foriegn-born anti-American leftists are considered valid opinion-givers by the MSM is a question that really pisses me off.
One will have to apply for funds to take vacations or make "big ticket" purchases, and then have these requests reviewed by a government regulatory board to ensure fairness for all.
Somehow, the poor and elderly will not be able to get national voter ID cards, but they will be able to get national debit cards.
