Ive made a few donations to Herman Cains campaign using the online donations page at hermancain.com and had no problems with it until last week. Now when you go to the donations page, the page loads fine, but none of the drop-down boxes function. This includes the drop-down boxes for: Contribution Type, State, Card Type and Expiration Date. Without being able to make those selections, donations cannot be submitted.
Yes, I know Microsoft sucks, Internet Explorer sucks, yadda yadda. But, the point is, the majority of computer users are still using Internet Explorer as their browser, and some of them have been unable to donate to Herman Cains campaign online for nearly a week now.
Yes, I know we can snail mail a donation to the campaigns P.O. Box. The problem is, not everyone is going to jump through extra hoops in order to make a campaign donation. This needs to get fixed asap.
E-mails to the Cain campaign reporting this problem have gone unanswered. Messages on their facebook page have gone unanswered. Phone calls to campaign headquarters get an automated message saying their mailbox is full.
Im posting this in case anyone else using Internet Explorer wants to try the donations page and confirm on this thread if it is or isnt working for you, specifically referencing the drop-down boxes. If you have the same problem with the drop-down boxes, please let us know what browser youre using.
Also, hoping theres an off-chance someone in the Cain campaign may be a lurker who can facilitate getting this fixed for Herman.
I've never posted a vanity thread before, so I beg the indulgence of the moderators. If online donations can't be made to Herman Cain's campaign, I think (in the words of Plugs Biden) it's a big ****** deal.
ping
reboot, reload browser, delete all cookies, then try again
the cookies and history can be the first problem
looks different but seems to work
That was the first thing I checked last week, not an issue. Others, not in my household, using different computers and different IPs are having exactly the same problem.
Thanks for your reply.
switch browsers try firefox and or explorer
Yes, the page loads just fine, that hasn’t been a problem. Can you try accessing the drop-down boxes, such as the one to select what state your state of residence, and see if it works for you? If not, can you post what browser you’re using? Thanks!
As I said in original post, yes, firefox works just fine. The common denominator is IE. Most people use IE. If it’s not working in IE, that’s a problem for Herman. Thanks!
Help from the Cain ping list, perhaps?
Works for me and I’m using IE7
I tried to make a donation, and it wouldn’t go through. It kept telling me to enter a correct credit card number, which I had done.
I keep seeing people saying they’ve donated by Paypal, which is my preference, but I haven’t had anyone answer me and tell me how or where they did this.
Lonevoice, I am using IE7. I just went to the Cain website. and it’s not just you...The Drop-Down boxes on the Donate page do not work.
The message “required field”, and a red frame came up around the drop down boxes, but you couldn’t do anything with the darned boxes.
Very interesting, thanks. I’m using IE 7.0.5730.13 with the most recent MS update.
I just called my sister, also using IE 7, and asked her to try it. She had exactly the same problem as I -— the drop-down boxes not functioning. I neglected to have her check what version of IE she was using. She also tried firefox and it worked fine for her there.
LV,
I’m using 5730.11, and as I said in my above post..drop downs not working.
Yes, sockmonkey! That is exactly, identically the same problem I and others I’ve checked with using IE 7 are having.
I can’t get ahold of anyone at Cain campaign headquarters to take a look at it, and I see it as a ginormous problem for Cain campaign fundraising efforts.
Thank you for responding!
I contacted someone in Fla campaign.hopefully they will forward.
works with firefox 7.0.1
on crappy vista too.
Thanks for your response. Are you able to get the drop-down boxes to work, such as being able to put in your state of residence?
Even if there is a way to donate by Paypal (which, like you, I haven’t seen anywhere), the inability to use the official campaign website donations page is a problem. I wonder how much $$ they might be losing with this not working for some people. It’s going on a week now this way. :-(
