Reg Weaver receives a state pension of $242,657 a year, not because it's based on his last salary as a teacher, but because he gets to count the $300,000-plus check he made as president of the National Education Association. Did Weaver get paid his $300,000 salary by the state or by the NEA? If the latter, then his Illinois retirement should be based on his school service, and the rest of his pension should be paid by the NEA out of teacher's union dues.

It's all for the benefit of the children.
This too will be corrected during the coming revolution.

Willie Sutton, 2011.
Reporter: "Mr. Sutton, why are you such a fervent government union supporter?"
Reg Weaver: "Because that is where the money is."

Good for Illinois. Give the Illinois taxpayers what they voted for.

A teachers union boss is just a political hack. They don't represent teachers or students. They don't improve conditions in the classroom.
All teachers union officers do is funnel dues money from teachers to Democrat politicians and make sure teachers and other school employees are available to “volunteer” for political campaigns and political rallies and events. In Wisconsin teachers called in sick to occupy the State Capitol and nothing happened. That is what teachers union officials do.
The Democrats are proud they can confiscate this much taxpayer money to pay to one of their political operatives. They only wish it could have been more.
