Herman Cain introduces 999 “Opportunity Zones”
Right Scoop ^ | 10/21/11 | Herman Cain

Herman Cain gave a speech today in Detroit introducing “Opportunity Zones” in his 999 plan. In short, if you are at or below poverty level, the plan will be 9-0-9.

While he was delivering it, I must say that it occurred to me that he was sounding more presidential than ever. That’s the first time I’ve had that thought.

justsaynomore...so you will know..I feel as if my harsh questions on Rainbow Push have been resolved. I have my big toe on the Cain Train. Still concerned about the 9% national sales tax...otherwise...I do like Cain.

Maybe being something like your brother’s keeper? I have yet to dissect the available details of the plan but from what I know of listening to him on radio for a log time, there is a time stamp on it somewhere. Like when Phase 1 999 gets replaced by Phase 2 FairTax.

I remember “empowerment zones” in Miami back in the 70s. Liberty City and Overtown are still there.

You’re right, but I’d say it just a bit different. The details *are* important, but we’ve got plenty of time and plenty of experts to figure them out and to come up with the best actual implementation. What Cain has done is cast the broad, big-picture vision, much like Jack Kennedy did in his “man on the moon” speech. Kennedy didn’t know that we’d need to design a three stage rocket or a LEM either, but his job as President was to LEAD and convey the VISION, not work out all the details.

Mr. Cain is doing what successful executive LEADERS do.

Same here, I’m all for opportunity/empowerment NOT entitlement. No “gimmes”.

Many FReepers recognize this from Reagan days.

Affirmative actions tax plan. How about the non-inner city folks who would be hit hard by the stupid 9-9-9 tax plan but do not want to live in the crappy inner cities? This fool is making up stuff as he goes.

You have to make the calculation of
“it’ll cost me money if I get a job”

not happen anymore.

Most folks on “disability” have the exact dollar per hour figure calculated out so that they know whether that “opportunity” is going to cost them money.

Y’know, I like Cain, but it’s sad that another political rookie is the best we can do. Where are you, Sarah? This is so depressing. Bob

Detroit can be a beautiful, thriving metropolis again.

I’ll move back there if there’s opportunity.

Michigan is a gorgeous state. I’d love to see it saved!

I like the fact that the states put in an application every year to make/keep an area a zone and that the qualifiers are all based on cold hard economics. This keeps areas from getting stuck with the advantage forever. Once they’re thriving, they’re no longer a zone.

This helps businesses get off the ground, but they’ll eventually be chugging along like everybody else.

Cain has thought of everything.

What’s wrong with a “political rookie” if he’s a competent executive manager?

So its 9-9-9.. unless its an opportunity zone or you’re making charitable contributions (get to exclude those!).

Don’t get me wrong. I like Cain. But not this. Can’t sit here and say Cain social engineering are fine while disagreeing with current social engineering schemes in handed down from Congress (albeit a much more massive scale).

Stop promoting this lie. You are doing the same thing to Cain that they did to Sarah. Doesn’t that bother you???

Herman Cain: Planned Parenthood Should Be Called ‘Planned Genocide’
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/03/herman-cain-planned-parenthood-should-be-called-planned-genocide.php

Herman Cain was endorsed by the Georgia Right-To-Life PAC in the 2004 US Senate GOP primary. Cain’s primary challenger from 2004, Johnny Isakson, had a pro-choice streak in his voting record and it was the reason why GRTL endorsed him.

Life, liberty & pursuit of happiness starts with unborn life
The Founding Fathers got it right. The Founding Fathers got it right because of those fundamental principles: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also got it in the right order. That wasn’t an accident. Their vision meant that you could pursue happiness in America as long as you don’t infringe upon the liberties of somebody else. And you can pursue all the liberties that you want as long as you don’t infringe upon the life of anybody else. And that starts with the life of the unborn.

Defund Planned Parenthood; intent was to kill black babies
I absolutely would defund Planned Parenthood—not because I don’t believe in planning parenthood, [but because] Planned Parenthood as an organization is an absolute farce on the American people.

People who know the history of Margaret Sanger, who started Planned Parenthood, they know that the intention was not to help young women who get pregnant to plan their parenthood. No—it was a sham to be able to kill black babies.
Source: Interview on the Bryan Fischer radio show , Jan 18, 2011

Life begins at conception, period
I believe that life begins at conception, period. And that means that I will have to see enough evidence that someone I would appoint shares that same view. I believe that the current Supreme Court is leaning too much to the liberal side.

I’m a Christian, I’ve been a Christian all my life. I’ve been a believer in the Bible since I was 10 years old. I’m very active in my church, and there is no way I would compromise my religious beliefs about the sanctity of life. And so it starts with, will they have demonstrated, in some of their other rulings, if they come from the federal judge bench, whether or not they also share that.

Because I believe that the principles that our Founding Fathers cherished, when they founded this country, and wrote the Declaration of Independence which inspired the Constitution, they were based upon biblical principles. I want to get back to those principles as president, if I run and get elected—not rewrite those documents.
