Cain's Vision for Renewing Cities across the USA
Herman Cain ^ | 21OCT11 | Herman Cain

It's time to stop projecting and guessing about what Cain wants to do and why. Here it is, in his own words.

It's a PDF. I don't know how to post it here.

My family followed “booms” while I was a child. First Michigan, then Alaska, then Wyoming. I know what it’s like to live in a thriving economy.

Yes. I’d move back to Detroit. And people that are smart, who come in early, could get a great deal on real estate.

Detroit wasn’t always like it is now. I would love to see this city saved.

During the ALCS, they showed some nice views from the River of the City Skyline....the potential is there....I think Mayor Bing is taking the right approach, tear it down and build it back up.

There are TONS of well-built abandoned factories just waiting for renovation and use. It would save money on start-ups.

And you’re right. All the blighted crap can go.

The leaves are mostly gone now but yes Michigan is an incredibly beautiful mostly rural state.

About 70 miles west of Detroit

We could definitely use more democrats like Dave Bing. He’s a stark contrast to democrat/socialists like John Conyers.

Mayor is the first public sector Job Dave Bing has ever held.

BTW, Michigan is beautiful this time of year.

I'd go back if I could, too cold for the wife, though.

Let ‘em riot. They’ll stop when they get hungry enough.
Besides, they’ll destroy their own neighborhoods, causing HUNDREDS of dollars in damage.

How about we support a *realistic* plan for ending urban blight and promote the revitalization of our cities?

What part of his statements that “all abortions should be illegal” and “life starts at conception” do you not understand? He also said “If a family wants to still get an abortion it’s up to them but it’s still illegal.” Getting your guy elected by lying about the opposition isn’t going to work.

The “opportunity zone” proposal is a Trojan Horse to break down the liberal strongholds around the country.

If it is a pre-requisite that in order to qualify for “opportuinity zone” an area has to:
- suspend minimum wage
- prevailing wage clauses in contracts
- make the area “right to work
- suspend anti-growth regulations

then the “opportunity zones” might be a good idea, even if on surface they look like more government meddling...

It is less of a give-away, and more of a government slowing those people down less, who are trying to help themselves escaping the poverty trap.

I think Cain is more of a strategist then people give him credit for.

No it isn’t a redistribution of wealth.

Poor people do not pay any income taxes now. So dropping the 9% to zero does not place any additional burden on the tax payer.

This income bracket will still have to pay 9% in sales tax on new items, so they will have to start putting some skin in the game.

Personally I think a lot of FReepers are more afraid of losing a whipping boy than anything.

Makes ya wonder doesn't it?

People don't see the difference between slums/ghettos and healthy functioning cities and why its important to revitalized dead zones.

Why not everywhere, why just the cities?

You have to start somewhere and you can't just wave a wand and have it all done at once! It makes sense to start where things are worst.

If the toilet is clogged and flooding over, what good does it do to keep flushing it without removing the clog first?

Cain isn't moving anyone's job to Detroit, he wants to create new jobs in De.toit for people that live IN Detroit.

I’m no fan of cities but healthy functioning ones are good for the whole country.

Strike while the iron is hot and the city won’t get anything better than their current mayor. Dave Bing is a democrat but he’s the best that city has seen in decades. He’s someone that the GOP can actually work with.

We've also imposed new strict limits on welfare including a 48 month cutoff.

Welfare or unemployment?
