California Adopts 'Cap-and-Trade' Plan to Cut Back On Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Fox News ^ | Oct 20, 2011 | AP via Fox News

California formally adopted the nation's most comprehensive so-called "cap-and-trade" system Thursday, an experiment by the world's eighth-largest economy that is designed to provide financial incentives for polluters to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

State officials said they hoped other states and Washington, D.C., would follow suit, calling the plan a "capstone" among the suite of tools California can use to reduce the pollution linked to climate change and cut dependence on foreign oil.

CA has passed Cap and Trade totally on it's own. I guess they aren't happy with slowly sinking into the ocean, they want to jump in both feet first.

I'm not sure about posting this - it is from Fox, but I see the byline is AP - mods, if it is not allowed, just please pull it.

When getting sucked into a black hole just isn’t good enough. They choose to fly into one with a rocket.

What do you expect from Moon-Beam?

Well, I guess they can go into more “green” technology - like growing pot commercially.

Pathetic.

If they cap and trade REAL good, they might be the eightieth largest economy in a few years.

State officials said they hoped other states and Washington, D.C., would follow suit...

On this point, the "state officials" are actually telling the truth.

I would bet a million carbon credits (if I had any) that during the hearings for the rule, it was stated several times that this would be a "model" for the rest of the nation and the world.

That, my friends, is life in my imperious little state of California, where they think they know better than the rest of the globe, and they somehow believe that they rule it.

We have several family size tents available as well as a large enclosing tarp to double insulate them ~ to set up in the backyard to temporarily house the relatives when they flee California ~ probably the day after this bill goes into effect.

I think it will all be big enough ~ should be 6 rooms in there.

You are too generous. They will still be coming into your house to use your bathroom and to shower.

If it wasn’t for all the good people in CA, my wish would be for the CA economy to croak before that of the US government, so an example of economic reality would stand before the people, but then we would probably face another example of too big to fail.

Has anybody noticed that California used to be regarded as the third largest economy in the World, just 5 years ago, Now they are bragging about being 8th.

This insanity will definitely take them completely off the list. Get ready for a mass migration of industry out of the State that would rival the Summer African Wilde beast sojourn.

Of course, California actually boasts about their record of getting rid of manufacturing industry and replacing it with techno, Office ridden, non producing paper/data shuffling scam artists. Cap & Trade will be perfect for them, and they can sell each other all sorts on non existent scams without restraint.

Now they truly will live in their own Utopian Fantasy. And they will try to attach themselves to other industries in other states to suck economic blood, but the price of doing business in California has just tripled. And the State thinks their budget is impossible now, wait till the new one becomes law.

I see Californians swirling in the toilet bowl while their politicians are reaching out to grab the flush handle one more time.

Can’t we just give California to the ChiComs in exchange for wiping out our debt? Good heavens, we have got to get rid of that place - it’s beyond hope!

I live in Palm Desert area next door to Palm Springs. Typical electric bill in summer is $500 for four months. People here are hurting...mostly the democrats. They’re not going to support higher utilities and don’t have the money. This could cause a massive backlash next November, and it’d be worth it.

But have influential American politicos in the most politically influential states sufficiently devolved to survive in their chosen post-cap-and-trade conditions?
