Exactly what source did you read? Just the Hot Air piece, or did you read a transcript of what Cain actually said?

Night and day difference. He was very clear in what he actually said.

The media look for any opportunity to make conservatives look foolish. Many interviewers are skilled at circumlocution and as a result great candidates like Cain look less than competent in some cases. I hate to write this, but he really needs a good handler.

I think it was pretty clear if you read the actual transcript and follow the sequence of the discussion, rather than lift a particular quote out of context.
