Reflecting national trends, businessman Herman Cain has now jumped to the front of the Republican pack in Iowa.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Iowa caucus-goers shows that Cain is in front with 28% followed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 21%. Congressman Ron Paul is a distant third at 10% followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 9%, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann at 8%, and Texas Governor Rick Perry at 7%. The sixth place finish for Perry is a sharp decline from early September when Perry was the frontrunner both nationally and in Iowa. (To see survey question wording, click here).
PTL!
Huckabee won this in ‘08 :0
Guess the debate didn’t hurt him as much as the media thought.
Duplicate - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2795546/posts - but that’s okay - good news can be shared twice :-)
If I was the candidate, I would rather win than come in distant 3rd or 4th?
That win was the main reason Huckabee gained momentum raising him to front runner status. You see something wrong with that?
When are the dolts going to realize that folks are excited about Cain and WANT to vote for him, even without glitzy TV ads being run continuously, and lots of campaign staff running around looking busy.
Cain better start losing or else his puppet master Romney is going to start to worry. /s

Hermentum continues: Cain leads Ohio and HAWAII primaries
Raleigh, N.C. The Republican presidential race is very much nationalized right now, with very few regional or state-by-state differences. Rick Perry is really cratering everywhere, and Herman Cain has led comfortably in every PPP primary poll in the last two weeks, first in rural, right-leaning states like North Carolina, West Virginia, and Nebraska, then Iowa and nationally, and now joined by states as distant and different as Ohio and Hawaii. Mitt Romneys one true stronghold remains New England. Newt Gingrich is also on the rise, though not to the extent that Cain is.

I think the reasons why Cain might be doing well with the public....He comes across as genuine and trustworthy. And
he is doing exceptionally well connecting with audiences
in personal appearances. Public is overlooking his lack of political glibness and slipperiness.
awesome! dude.
“Huckabee won this in 08” . . . on behalf of McCain.
Whatever one thinks of their positions or character, Santorum, Bachmann, Paul, and Huntsman are finished. Only Gingrich remains the wild card and I think he is really angling for veep, not president.
This may be a replay of the 1964 primary season, with Cain playing the role of Goldwater and Romney as Rockefeller.
But after a few debates, it was obvious Perry cannot beat Romney. Hermain Cain seized the moment and here we are.
