...exactly how is this different from the way they will treat any candidate the Republican Party puts up who is an avowed, unashamed, Christian? Haters are gonna hate and they will use any weapon they can find against those they target--including painting any Mormon, or Christian as "extremist," out of the mainstream, "dangerous," and/or wanting to establish a theocracy.#1: For some on the attack, it'll be just a matter of degree. Maher lambasts all religions -- or at least Catholicism, Christianity, Mormonism, etc.
Even for him, By any standard, Mormonism is more ridiculous than any other religion...
#2: Look @ Prop 8. Evangelicals & Mormons & minorities & Roman Catholics especially teamed up to pass that in CA. Who did the libs go after for the most part? Minorities? (Nope; not at all). Evangelicals & Catholics? (Some) Mormons? (Yup)
That's the same "formula" that would carry over
I'm sorry, but these people are going to bash anyone they oppose with any number of illegitimate, twisted and distorted representations of what they support and believe.
Obviously, the MSM distorts & twists all it touches. The thing about Mormonism is that it's so bizarre it won't have to. (And nor does it in this article)
On Proposition 8, they went after the Mormons the most, because the Mormons led the charge on it. They spent a ton of money to push it. They were the strongest voice in support of getting it passed. . . . Of course the libtards went after them the most.
This is just a trumped up issue intended to attack the guy who, in their eyes, is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party.
You think Bill Maher's treatment of Sarah Palin--or that of the MSM was any less unfair, extreme, dishonest, or over the top? They are equal opportunity haters. They don't need any excuse to create whatever outrage they want. They will manufacture an issue with which to attack any conservative.
Right now it is Mormonism. If Romney didn't look like he will be the lone survivor of the Republican mutual destruction league that we are being fed through these "debates," Romney's being a Mormon would not even be mentioned.
Look at what they attempted to do to Justice Thomas. A scandal they manufactured out of whole cloth. You think they won't find some "Anita Hill" with which to attack Cain should he be the nominee? You think they won't "Bork" any Republican that wins the nomination?
All they want is something that they can make appear to be questionable--whether it is or not--and then they will bend it to their purpose. The Mormon thing is nothing more than an attempt to preemptively damage Romney with the voters.
